>gamers will look back on this era of human history and say they want to go back
Really? You would trade everything in the world now to travel back to this era?

Everything good in that picture(GC, PS2, TPB, ATHF) is still accessible. Everything else is shit.

There will only ever be one era where the internet is still relatively fresh. This is one of those clearer breaks in time and is an actual valid take. You can even piggyback "LLMs not being a thing yet" on there.

Pre 2010 internet felt like the last time a solid majority of people didn't feel so unhinged and consumed by their own desire to feel right or shill a narrative. They also felt more sincere, even if it wasn't something that would catch on and become a new trend, phrase or meme. Idiots and bad apples existed but they got drowned out or even sometimes made things funnier and more engaging for everyone else. It also wasn't initially at least, starting to feel like a homogenized, social media, corporate hellscape. Twitter and Facebook existed but who the fuck cared? I sincerely miss those days and sometimes feel like I took them for granted.

I think it would be sweet for a day to go back to Ijji and play GunZ and Gunbound all day like shit was still poppin

Yeah and it’s only going to get even more bound up. All services requiring facial ID and shit, anonymity will be mostly killed and they’ll probably continue to crack down on piracy more and more. The wild west days probably end, you’ll need to expend a ton of effort otherwise. There’s still good stuff in this era probably but I just don’t care as much anymore.

You will say this and then proceed to derail another thread on this board right after. You're no better. No one here is. Stop wishing for the past while continuing to ruin the present.
