>huge success, millions of copies sold & winner of all major GOTY awards>didn't end up ushering in a CRPG renaissance by other devs trying to copy its successWhy?
>"they set the bar too high!!"Other devs
>>733728230Because other CRPG devs are talentless hacks. In fact, not only did they not try to copy its success, they immediately took to twitter upon its release to complain that they could never make anything like it and tell fans they should lower their expectations.
>>733728230Solasta II EA comes out next month
>>733728230Did we find a single person that played this chapter 1 yet?Quite a bold move to release an unfinished early access game and just never finishing anything past the first chapter but it really paid off with this crowd that just keeps replaying(read: fapping to the dollhouse sex) chapter 1 over and over.
>>733728230Because games take five+ years to develop
>>733728387Your schizo post doesn’t make sense.
>>733728230There is zero chance other devs have not taken note of BG3's unprecedented success, but I suspect we won't see the facsimiles emerge for a few years, as it takes a long time to make a game. It's already starting somewhat though; Solasta 2 seems to clearly be following the BG3 playbook at a lower budget.
No Indians involved in the development of BG3, please understand.
>>733728230>Get Baldurs Gate 1 and 2 in a Walmart double pack>Wow I hate this>Yeah they are pretty hardcore games for people who love dice rolls and stat crunching>Ah well, only $10 lost>Baldurs Gate 3 comes out>Worldwide blockbusterIs everybody secretly a Table Top RPG autist? This shit is so weird to me. Im tempted to try it but fool me once shame on me and all that shit.
>>733728230>>733728387I did an entire playthrough for this game completely blind and with zero outside resources. BG3 is probably the only genuinely 10/10 game I've ever played or will ever play. Every decision has a consequence, every character choice affects the way you play the game, and every potential action a player could want to try has been thought out and planned for. It's a masterpiece of videogame design and player experience, unlikely to ever be replicated. Only lazy trolls hate this game and even then, the worst they can say is that BG3 is "woke" because there's a handful of optional gay romances
>>733728230Because other devs simply aren't skilled enough to create anywhere close to this kind of masterpiece.
>>733728387Could you write this again, just a bit more coherently? Because this reads like a mad man's ravings
>>733728776No, they're OC enthusiasts and degenerate character romancers/shippers.
Seems like Solasta 2 got a big budget upgrade. I don't think it will be good at all, but I definitely think BG3 will have an influence
>>733728776>>733728912I play BG3 over old fantasy cRPGs because it's actually fun to play my types of classes; thieves and barbarians. I've never had fun sneaking around in a cRPG before, and I've never had as much fun with a barbarian as when I'm throwing people around or using goblins as an improvised weapon. Most fantasy cRPGs, the ones with RTWP anyway, feel primarily designed to be played as spellcasters. And that is completely uninteresting to me.
>>733728230Because of dev cycles vidya trends usually have ~4-5 years of lag time.
