They're worried that it won't sell for shit on it's own because despite the supposed clamoring, the first steam controller tanked so hard they literally couldn't even GIVE them away, they had to bundle them with other shit to get them out of their warehouse by the end of it all.They probably made like 1.5x controllers versus intended gabecube production, as well, so they're worried about releasing the controller and then burning through stock and not having enough for the steam machine launch if/when it does come out.

Tons of games now natively support it, it mainly just struggles on older games but you can just use DualSenseX or DS4Windows to get past that issue. Steam Input isn't that great for it and sometimes breaks stuff like Yakuza 0 and Kiwami 2 being unplayable with it but again, DS4Windows. They are known to have stick drift, and I personally got it myself, but all I did was push down on the stick and go in a circle, then counter-clockwise and it's worked fine for like two years since that happened.Official Xbox controllers ever since the 360 are not worth it unless you're a AA battery fetishist, especially Elites. They're not comfortable in the hand for long periods of time, small as hell, the sticks wear out crazy quick or develop drift, the face buttons suck so much compared to the 360, and the Elite specifically has major QC issues almost constantly.Switch Pro and Pro 2 controllers are not only super janky to even get working on PC (Pro 2 currently requires you to go to a Github, run its tool in your browser, and only then can it detect your Pro 2 and not even really work despite that) but in any game that requires heavy RS usage I personally thing it just sucks. Nintendo sticks have been horrendous ever since the Wii U, the main appeal of the Pro controllers is how quiet it is, the long life, how everything but the sticks feel good, and how premium it feels. It also has problems with drift and they're not easy to take apart at all, especially the Pro 2.If you want to step away from first party then look at literally anything GameSir. It's both Xinput and Dinput which you can flip on a dime and has Elite controller features for normal controller prices. The G7 Pro for example is excellent if you're just looking to use it on PC. It's a better Xbox controller but has the downside of being as small as modern Xbox controllers.
