>>733731729minimum requirements is youtube though, thats wrong
That's pretty lenient
>>733731957Heavier than Crimson Desert, which is kind of odd since KojiPro are pretty optimized. I mean odd for Crimson Desert.
>>733732054>>733731957Crimson Desert wants a 6500xt. This runs on a 5500xt. Also this is still Horizon engine which both of their games got PS4 versions.
>inter>didjewrikeit.exe
>>733731957It doesn't specify which framerate or resolution that applies to. It could be 60fps 1080p or 30 fps with DLSS.
>>733732273PS5 runs it at 1440p 60 fps
>>733732153I had Recommended requirements in mind. This one requires >5700X /(6800 | 3070)while Crimson goes for >5600 /(6700 XT / 2080). Which is pretty weird.
Is Death Stranding 1 any good? I know it's a walking simulator but is it a good walking simulator?
>>733732273
>>733731729slow down
>>733732374see >>7337323155600 and 3060 for 1080p 60 fps medium settings
>>733732374I go by minimum because it sets the API requirements. For example Horizon and Death Stranding have no RT so they can run on non RT GPUs. Crimson Desert starts at RTX and PS5 GPU era which have RT & DX12 Ultimate so the requirements are more strict outta the gate.
>>733732440Death Stranding 1 has a few cool characters (Higgs and Hardman especially) and definitely benefitted from some of Kojima’s key team members, but it’s ultimately bogged down from being a true successor to Metal Gear by the same mass-market iOS 7 pandering that modern Steam suffers from as well. The gameplay is fun, the world is interesting, and there are so many things about it that work, but it’s an eighth-generation game for sure.
>>733731729this game doesnt even have RTX ON Pathracing ray reconstruction
>>733732505I don't think that's the case because the minimum is this (for CD):>Graphics: RX 6500 XT / GTX 10606500 doesn't do any ray tracing whatsoever and 1060 only by software since it has no dedicated RT cores.
interested to see how it runs on a 4060, looks like 8gb vram's gonna kneecap it pretty hard
>>7337328483070 is about 20% faster than a 4060, but the 4060 has access to framegen so probably about the same.
It's probably higher because KojiPro/Sony are handling the port. DS1 was 505 Games and that one would crash at recommended specs.
>>733732893>framegen so probably about the same.lol
>>733732912>that one would crash at recommended specsThere was an area near the Timefall farm that crashed at random every time I went into it, had to savescum like crazy there. They never fixed it until the Director's Cut, which I never got a single crash in.
>>733733031Are you sure? When did you play the base game for the last time? Because I think I played the game two years ago and I never had a crash, also while running on Linux. It ran flawlessly on my previous card, a RX 6600 non-XT. I think it was a driver issue for you.
>>733731729Not too surprising it can run off a potato. Decima is one of the cleanest engines out there. Only thing that looked badly about the first game is some of the textures.
>>733731729>inter
>>733733147According to Steam, April 2022.I got tons of crashes everywhere on release, but I was using LTSC 2019 (Windows 10 1809), and while it could run, 505 Games said it required Windows 10 1909 or higher.Once I downgraded to the current 10 Pro version at the time (2004 I think), the timefall farm was the only area that still crashed.
>>733733338Just did a quick search on "death stranding crashing pc reddit" and it's fucking wild, man. All sorts of issues, crashing not only the game, but the entire system. I heard Nvidia drivers are an issue these days too, so that plus Windows is a hellish combination for gamers. Thank God I switched long ago.
>>733733559I was/am using Nvidia. The error definitely made mention of it. I had an old driver at the release of the base game and I remember texture flickering until I updated it.Director's Cut was flawless from the start though (as it should be, being a glorified DLC).
>>733732893yeah, i'm not too concerned about hitting 60+fps but the stutters might be rough. stellar blade runs great on a 4060 but high textures push it just above the 8gb threshold and the stutters make it kind of miserable. medium textures look like absolute dogshit, so it's disappointing. guess we'll see though
>>733731729>Hardware requirements>ToasterNeat.
>>733733278why are you raughing
>>733733695You finished the game twice, right? That's what each of those 100 hours are telling me. After finishing the base game (from Timmy), I purchased the DC and just did the additional mission plus some autism here and there. Pretty neat. Also that's a nice setup for 1080p/1440p. Are you going to run the sequel on that?
>>733734002>You finished the game twice, right? No, I imported my save to DC, but I did go for 100% completion (outside of getting big rainbow medals on all the challenges, fuck that) and a lot of delivery autism. Easily my favorite game of the last 10 years.>Are you going to run the sequel on that? That's the plan. I actually forgot that Death Stranding was the last game I played on my old GTX 1080 PC, and this was what I built to replace it in 2021. It's worked a treat for pretty much everything at 1440p.
>>733734297>Easily my favorite game of the last 10 years.Mine too. kekQuite the pleasant surprise this game turned out to be. Can't wait for the sequel, but I'm not pre-ordering nor buying immediately. It's pretty fucking expensive in my country. Maybe by the end of the year. Pirating is a big-nono for me here because I genuinely dig the online. Keep on keeping on, anon. I'll see you there.
>>7337327906500XT supports raytracing it's a DX12 ultimate GPU and the criteria is it supports RT on Windows. Not to mention RADV enables RT even on AMD GPUs without dedicated cores.1060 does not support RT at all.
>require a $1200 gpu to render a barren wasteland in 4kthe fact that everyone is ignoring this just shows how impoverished pc gamers are
>>733734804>1060 does not support RT at all.Oh yeah? Real gamers don't need more than 5fps.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ppCh4dYies
>>733734918For reference Alan Wake 2 minimum was a 1070 but it ran worse than a 6500xt or 1660 because it doesn't support mesh shaders or dx12ulti API features.
>>733734804>1060 does not support RT at all.pretty sure there was a driver update for them (on windows) that allowed those cards to run raytracing in software, like how gcn amd gpus do it on linux but their performance is incredibly bad.
>>733732440Death Stranding an interesting game. It isn't really fun, but it is extremely cathartic; it's like a warm shower after a long day of work. The annoying parts of the game are really fucking annoying, though.
>>733731729I watched all Higgs scenes on youtube. This game has already given me it all had to give.
>>7337350481060 cannot boot Indiana Jones on Windows or Linux because it doesn't support Vulkan RT but a 6500xt can.
>>733731729Only thing I'm kinda pissed about is the amount of space it takes up but it kinda makes sense considering the scope of the open world. Gotta love the Decima Engine being optimized to hell and back to run on literal toasters.

>>733735437>>733736239I don't disagree at all, but compared to another 150+ GB game like most modern military shooters, it has a better reason for the file size considering the size of the actual game world. I'll still wait until a Fitpack of the game comes out.
>>733731729Who even cares?Nobody's waiting for this.
I actually can't remember what GPU I have without looking it up and I changed it just like a year ago.
>>733736239>twice the original game's size>twice the content>twice the graphical fidelityI don't see the problem. 150GB is nothing these days and storage, well, 6 months ago it was cheaper than water, if you don't have the space, you should've upgraded before this winter.

>>733732440it’s not a walking simulator in the derogatory sense, it’s only a walking simulator in the literal sense. the game is more mechanically dense than MGS. and yeah, it’s pretty good
none of the specs mention upscaling which is surprisingly nice. if you fall a bit under the specs you can always use that for a boost.
Grok tells me with 13700k, 4090 FE, and 32GB DDR5 6200Mhz I can easily play this at 4k Very High with DLSS Preset M Ultra Quality (via NVIDIA Profile Inspector). What do you think?

Is Death Stranding 2 good?>opinion on 1 below>>733732440It's good. Not amazing, but I thought the gameplay was generally fun with some slog. People calling it a Walking Sim are accurate, but it's more involved than that; it kept my interest at least. The plot was Kojislop, which I tolerate at its worst, but most people find grating. I think there are some strong emotional moments and the atmosphere is great, but then you have shit like "Princess Beach" and "Die Hardman." His style works great in MGS3 but only sort of works by MGSV. DS does not suit Kojislop. Kojima needed a tardwrangler for the writing, but he'll probably never get one for any of his games now.
GTX1070 bros we are still walking
>>733732440Ludeo Kinojima did the impossible, which is make hold-W gameplay fun. The gameplay mechanics remain fresh enough to carry players through the game. You're tackling treacherous terrain on foot with few or no shortcuts, then you build shortcuts, and then you speedrun through that was once utterly perilous to traverse. A somewhat convoluted plot mixed with unique characters provide a common strand through the game while morsels of PVRE kino from music, one off battles, camera panning over scenery, feed immensely satisfying moments at a measured pace. Finally, you don't feel alone, as indirect but occasionally useful player player interactions permeate the world.

>>733736360>considering the size of the actual game worldlol
>>733744512Because native 4K and 4K DLSS Q look identical but the latter gives you like 1.5x the framerate. Some people want 4K and high refresh rate.
>>733731729150gb is pretty rough but I just through another 1TB SSD into my rig a month ago. 2.5TB for just games/programs should be enough. It's spread across 3 NVME drives but whatever. And I have a 2Gb download connection so that's not a problem. Everything else is fine with my 13700K/4080 at 1440p.

If you play the game offline does it not have any prebuilt structures at all? I played the first one online since it was free on EGS, seems like it would really suck if there were no roads or bridges ever.
I'm happy the 5 death stranding fans on the internet can finally have more people to talk to, discussion of this game died in less than like a day.

>>733731729So does Death Stranding 2 actually play like Metal Gear Solid V or are Kojimbo fans talking out of their ass again because he really did abandon the stealth action genre? That's what i heard some anon on here claim.
>>733754506It's very reminiscent of it, which makes sense since it was the foundation for Death Stranding.

>>733736239It must involve a lot of walking then.
>>733754506you can see the obvious influence of mgsv in the gameplay, even in the first game.
>>733754596What do you mean foundation? the first game doesn't feel like MGS and is not stealth action. There's barely any (if not non existent) infiltration and evasion gameplay. It's set up was entirely different and not close to genre.
>>733731729Not too bad considering how good the game looks. Letting you run the game with weak CPUs and GPUs like that is pretty much the same as the first game. I originally ran Death Stranding 1 on an i7-4790K and a 1660 Super. It ran like shit, but it worked and never crashed. I'll be surprised if there's any genuine optimization issues on modern hardware. The only actual bullshit here is the file size of the game.
>>733754786By that I don't mean it's in the same genre, but as an open world mission based game.

>i9-9900ksSure hope that's enough because I can't but a new pc now
>>733731852I came to post this but FPBP, as usual
>>733732440It's the only true walking sim imo. Every other "walking sim" is move you're character through a story with no gameplay, DS however made walking into gameplay. You have a package, and you need to get across the map while balancing your goods, the more you take on, the harder the balancing minigame becomes, and the bigger of a target you are for the "Mules" who will steal your packages if they catch you, along with that the environment is also a puzzle of sorts with how you should go about traversing it, from either laying down a ladder to cross a gap, leaving rope behind, etc. Outside of delivering shit, you can raid Mule camps using a lasso gun, running them over, throwing your packages at them, or even drop kicking them for materials to RND new equipment like cars, motorcycles, exoskeletons to make you stronger and run faster, as well as ziplines you can set up to make back tracking far easier. Also, when it came out it was one of the few games I remember that generation to have actual boss fights that felt gamey. The story is fucking retarded though especially with how absolutely seriously Kojima takes his concepts without a shred of irony in what he's doing. I would say to anyone to give the game a shot, because even though it's weird, it definitely sticks out compared to most of the slop that gets shoveled out to the masses every year.TLDR, it's okay.
