That was the central plot of the original game.Second, Kratos was never just ME KILL EVERYTHING! There are plenty of times were Kratos leaves people alone in the Greek games and helps out others. More often than not, Kratos kills when he needs to (self defense or solving a puzzle) or when the person being killed is a massive dick (usually making fun of him killing his family)The only times he killed an innocent person for no reason are the random NPCs that are optional.Third, the Greek games and Norse games take place several years apart. Enough years to where Kratos got a new son. And that’s also after GoW3’s ending showing that killing the Greek Gods didn’t make him happy. That’s plenty of time for someone to reflect on their actions.This doesn’t excuse the shitlenial writing in the games, but its a natural progression of Kratos that characters like Vegeta and Darth Vader went through in their own character archs.

Second game you can use the excuse of him going through war again and killing the servants of the Sisters of Fate but the third? He kills Poseidon which floods Greece, kills random Olympian human citizens and other crazy shit. Hell he even kills Pandora by letting her get drawn into the flame so he can attack Zeus. By the standards of any civilization at any point in history Kratos' would be something of an inhuman demon. Again, Satan would look at his entire life and be disgusted by it.
