Does it make you sad knowing Fallout will never be an RPG series ever again?
>>
>>733739516
Not really. 1 and 2 were influential enough to CRPGs as a whole and have a a good modding community. I'm moreso sad that the 3D games spillover into discussion about the RPG games
>>
>>733739516
New Vegas wasn't an RPG
>>
>>733739516
3 good games is more than some other series ever gotten.
>>
No? RPGs as a genre are behind a lot of the wokeness in modern video games. Fallout 2 was one of the first games to include homosexuality.
>>
>>733739516
Eh, the time for mourning was a long while ago. Like yeah it sucks but I'm over it at this point, like >>733740343 said it did better than a lot of franchises.
>>
>>733739516
A bit, sure, but then again I've had years upon years to come to terms with it.
It is quite a shame since I really did like the lore and artstyle, the stuff that wasn't written by Emil or designed by whoever the fuck came up with the Jetsons style that is.
>>
>>733739516
no
>>
>>733739516
If you mean trying to port table top rulesets into video games then good riddance.
They suck.
>>
>>733739516
Recently played the Outer Worlds 2 and it is the worthy successor I don't give a fuck what /pol/ says
>>
>>733739783
It was, you got to roleplay a tranny

>3 good games
1.
>>
I’m not convinced that Bethesda will continue with the template developed in 4.
>>
>>733742970
One example of a true RPG that has done well in the last 20 years.
Ya sure showed me.
>>
>>733742970
It was popular so you know it was good.
>>
>>733743851
larian's previous games did well. as do owlcat's, inxile's, obsidian's, and a whole host of indie games
>>
>>733744064
> Did well
Compared to what?
>>
>>733744148
development cost
>>
>>733739516
Nah. I gave up the hope a long time ago for Bethesda, and gave up on Obsidian a few years back. Both are shells of their original selves with anyone who did make the series good gone, often now spending their time whining on Twitter about bullshit.

New Vegas itself came out close to 16 years ago now. At a certain point you gotta move on. It was a phenomenal game that I still revisit almost every year or so, but acting like there will somehow be this return-to-form one day is just dumb. It's over, move on.
>>
>>733742970
Say whatever you want about Bald Ass Gays 3, but it did absolutely not succeed because it was a TTRPG adapted into videogame form.
>>
>>733744339
That dnd combat was fire tho.
>>
>>733744374
That's the thing though, it wasn't DnD combat. They had to add extra shit, like abilities fighters don't have in the TTRPG, because they knew how boring 5e combat would be in a videogame.
>>
>>733744428
It must be really really fucking bad without those changes they made because the combat is easily the worst part of that game.
>>
>>733744615
Yes, 5e is notoriously the worst TTRPG system when it comes to just RAW. There's a reason every DM worth literally anything has to houserule some stuff sooner or later to make the game anyhow appealing.
>>
>>733744854
Did the dnd guys force that on larian? I'm assuming they did because why else would they use it.
>>
>>733744854
5e is good and you are retarded. Or are you calling 4e a better system?
>>
>>733744216
So my point stands.
You were able to point out one TTRPG inspired game that has done well in the last 2 decades.

By your logic The Star Wars MMO , known colloquially as Tortanic' was a huge hit. It recouped its development costs many times over.
>>
>>733746242
You didn't make a point. What do you mean by a game that has "done well"?
>>
>>733746423
Pay attention sperg. It is a simple conversation to follow.
>>
>>733745149
NTA but I would.
>>
>>733740765
>RPGs as a genre are behind a lot of the wokeness in modern video games
No that would be marxists, RPGs were allowed to have some edge to them back in the day.
>>
>>733747308
Fallout 2 was the first mass-market video game that had homosexuality as an option, bub.
>>
>>733747563
bro, you ever hear about a little game called "Caper in the Castro?" It was a murder mystery adventure game from the 80s where the player character was gay. Fallout wasn't flying solo on that front.
>>
>>733747652
There are examples before Fallout 2 but they were all niche games that were traded between fags, not massive releases that won awards and sold like hotcakes.

Never is a long time. Todd and Emil are getting old. Anything could happen in the next decade
