I haven't done the DLC yet (just beat Micolash) but so far only DS2 has a worse base game boss lineup. I like the game a lot otherwise, but based on how people talk about it, I was expecting a bit more.

when people give the game such high praise they are mostly doing it for the DLC imo, the base game is pretty underwhelming and half baked
