Should I go for the true ending on the first run?
Asking in case replaying the game becomes too time consuming.
>>
This game had so much so but I couldn't be fucked to finish it

True ending is nigh impossible to get on a blind first run.

Go for the true ending on the first run. The true ending is what makes the story really good.

The normal ending isn't really its own ending. It just kind of cuts off a few hours early and a npc says "you won the war, congrats, roll credits." There's nothing interesting about the normal ending. It's just like if the game didn't have an ending.

Use this guide. You will never figure out how to achieve the true ending by yourself.

It's foolproof except some of the names are romanized differently from the official translation, but you can figure it out.
Rucio = Lucian
Rezard = Lezard
Jerevellan = Gerebellum
Brams = Brahms
Meltina = Mystina
>>
Route A (true ending) is not simply “more content.” It is a structural and thematic deconstruction of Route B (normal ending).

If you start with A using a guide, you technically see more content, but you skip the intended illusion and its later dismantling. From a literary perspective, that weakens the impact.

Is any game worth emulating and sinking an ungodly amount of time in

I find that following a guide when first playing a game is pretty disappointing. I'd recommend just playing the game normally, leveling up who you like and sending off who you think is most fitting, rather than following a walkthru step-by-step to ensure you get a specific ending. Once you're done, you can just play the game again or watch an alternate ending on youtube. Or, if the game wasn't good enough to bother with, then be glad you at least played the game rather than looking at a GameFAQs page for 20 hours.
>>
Shit nigga, might as well not play at all and just watch a longplay at 2x speed.

Well the game still is looking pretty good, replaying it is not a bad idea so if pushing through it is worth it then that's where I'll be.
I'll try to get the true ending still, but will prioritize a natural flow playthrough.

>will prioritize a natural flow playthrough
for as far manipulating a semi-hidden value you fully lack context for can be considered 'natural'
>>
>>733741368
Nah. Be a good boy on the first run and go beat up Surtr

This.

You'd be making a big mistake. You're not going to replay it. It's like a 40 hour game. There's no "structural and thematic deconstruction." The normal ending is just a still of Freya's portrait with a text box saying "Thank you for beating the bad guy. Well done." It's literally 30 seconds long.
These guys are retarded or trolling you:

You're a genuine fucking moron if you really believe what you're saying. You should probably never try to give anyone advice, as a rule. What people are saying is absolutely true, you're not supposed to have full context for what seal value is and what you're supposed to do in a first run. You're supposed to play the role that Asgard intends you to play first, encounter Surt, and see the B ending. Without doing that, many of the scenes with Loki in the A ending won't have any impact at all, as you are telling him to skip an entire dungeon and several story cutscenes. You retarded asshole

Get the normal ending on normal difficulty. Replay on hard difficulty for the true ending and aditional dungeons.
>>
The game is meant to be played on hard mode. Though a blind playthrough will almost certainly result in the wrong ending, not everyone has the time or inclination to play through a second time. I've played it through to the true ending like 3 times over the years, but I'm not a typical player. There's nothing wrong with following a spoiler-free guide to the true ending.

Hard mode in this game is a meme. It's not really harder than normal, and it gives more dungeons, characters, exp, etc. But yes he shouldn't be meta gaming to get the true ending before the normal one, that's dumb as hell

If you like missing content and cutscenes and an important twist that's supposed to be contrasted with the events in the A ending path, follow a guide and skip B ending. I love skipping over things in games, fuck the story. Even better, just read the plot on a wiki
