There are literal Angels that wreck havoc upon humans in DoD1 and 3 and all the cast of those games are mentally ill and coping in unhealthy ways with being schizo retards. Nier Replicant/Gestalt and Automata are a lot more reserved in those departments and they feel more like Zelda games, with Replicant and Gestalt being more like Ocarina of Time and Automata feeling more like Twilight Princess.
