For me, best balance is DS3. Fun gameplay, decent exploration, good bosses, tons of fun weapons. Its linear level design leaves some to be desired but I will take that and my bonfire teleports over Dark Souls 1's overuse of short cuts and obnoxious run backs.Worst one is DS2. It just is. Elden Ring has the best bosses but the basic enemy design could be a lot better. Leyndell is a nice dungeon but the strongest enemy was a page that could shoot three exploding crossbow bolts at once, and there's only like two of them. The DLC had this worse, because you had the fucking giant bloodfiend guys who'd get staggered easily and die in a few hits, or the gigantic scorpions who were chump change. Thankfully the Divine Beast Warriors were a step up but only the ice one felt like a true elite enemy.

Replaying ds3 then elden ring right after. Got to er dlc again and feel completely numb to the series now. Full on not event burnt or fatigue but the shit lost all its magic when the online is completely dead(ds3) and or a fucking clown show with how unbalanced and ridiculous they power scaled everything like were pink and blue haired goku type shit(er)
