It's weapons MOG the absolute fuck out of the shitty ones in Half Life 2, which PCfags hold up as some milestone (a milestone of shit). My fingers ran from 1 to - throughout the whole game. RAGE is gunporn done right.

The Scorchers DLC might be in the top DLCs of all time, especially due to the way they integrated the content in the base game. You can play plenty of shitty DLC like Resident Evil 5 Gold or Bioshock Infinite's Burial at Sea which aren't at all integrated with the base game.

Story is a complete and utter flatline, but it doesn't matter when I didn't care about the story in Half Life 2 either, and they FORCE YOU TO LISTEN ANYWAY. (And retards will still say it doesn't have cutscenes despite several scenes where you get locked off in a room from the rest of the game until you listen to the retarded soulless NPC)

I was surprised to find out how much of a sequel RAGE 2 actually is though. I remember people complaining about the ending when the game first released, and that's classic shitty id for you -- but RAGE 2 playing into it makes it okay in my books.

All I remember from this game is reading Xbox magazine and seeing the Pros and Cons grading at the bottom, and seeing in the cons
-25 gig file size...WTF???

A game being 25 gigs was seen as bizarre back then, and it wasn't even THAT long ago

Yeah I was annoyed at the size of it back then, but now is it not only the norm, I get an appreciative smile on my face when a game is ONLY floating around the 20-30s.

>>733758321
Only 15 years. Go to 2011 and compare game sizes from then to 1996.
>>
>>733758321
Probably the megatextures taking up all them gigs
>>

Bit boring innit

The combat vs the various gangs is FEAR1 tier
>>

now if a game's 25gb it's either 2 hours long or weeb shit

I thought it played well as an iD game. Just chaos spam shotgun with 3-4 types of enemies that require different movesets.
Cool, not overwhelming open world.
Cool hub area with updated late game hub area also cool.
Exploration was decently balanced between the vibe of the wasteland with metered out chaos shooter levels.

Was a little sparse. Could have done more with the open world concept, a little less linear.
But holy fuck Rage 2 just bored me in the end. The combat levels were too much, too lame, repetitive. I stopped caring about the open world.

I guess, Rage 2 did hook me for a minute, somewhere in the early to middle game.
I think it was ubislopified. There was too much to do and it was too the same, and the story levels were too long and repetitive.

Something between the two Rage games would have been nice.
First one though was better and tighter by far than the second and is indeed underrated.

I honestly don't enjoy using 1-9 keys for weapons cause my muscle memory for that hasn't existed for decades once every shooter was 2-3 guns max

Are you me? I replayed it last week, 2nd is way undercooked in terms of narrative pacing, but every level is solid with its pretend RPG trappings and proto Doom 16 gunolay, and once you fix Megatexture pop-in it's a very pretty world

Finally, a Rage appreciation thread. It's a fun FPS set in a Mad Max inspired world. What's not to like? It even has side activities like a GTA game.

RAGE 2 does the open world better and RAGE 1 is clearly hampered by the attempted design.
>>
>>733762397
That's a shame. Even though I liked Rage 1, the art style of Rage 2 makes me want to beat the devs up and call them faggots.
>>
>>733758010
I agree. I played it recently and I was pleasantly surprised. Even wrote a big ass Steam review about it
>>
i tried to play this when it came out, but the performance was terrible
might play it now

It's a good iD game. Drive around fuck around in a cool world. Occasionally dive into run and gun chaos levels that are pretty well designed. Diverse guns. Diverse enemies. No other bullshit.
Cool hub. Latter game has new cool hub. Perfection.

Whatever your ideal controller type is, or mouse and key, do that, play it, you'll have a decent time.

It's in an incredibly scuffed state due to age
