I love From games but their character creation is abysmal. This is Nioh 2. Dragon's Dogma is equally good. Does the From proprietary engine have some weird restriction that prevents them creating an attractive face? I simply don't believe the devs are inexplicably blind to this one element of art direction.I also notice their default body proportion always makes the head freakishly small. A cheat engine 'head size' slider set to 1.5 brings it in proportion so there's absolutely no technical reason for it. And there's virtually nothing woke about From, particularly since this problem has existed since Dark Souls, so it's not a result of angry fat DEI consultants.So what gives?

The consensus is Nioh's combat is quite a bit better than From's from a pure gameplay perspective and I tend to agree -- with the huge caveat there is a couple hours' learning learn where it feels a lot different. Also Nioh's combat doesn't open up until you start to unlock skills and combos.The thing lots of people don't like about Nioh is loot slop and I completely agree. What changed it for me was seeing a YT describing how, for NG, you can completely ignore blacksmithing and crafting... all that shit doesn't make a difference until NG++. In NG just pick the weapon type you want, keep swapping out for anything that drops with higher damage, ignore the hundred 'special abilities' since they don't make a big difference in NG, sell all the slop. Basically loot management only comes in if you're playing past NG.
