Neat concept I guess? A budget console that is focused mainly on indie games but it had a cheap controller and a very weak library. Did it ever have any good exclusives? It seems it mainly had crap or games you could very easily have gotten elsewhere.
>>733766072>but it had a cheap controller and a very weak library.Basically switch 2.
Making a console that can only run mobile games but not any of the ones you already play on your phone was a really, really weird decision.
>>733766072Exclusives and its library size do not matter here. The entire purpose for this thing is to be sold in countries where getting any normal gaming device is not even remotely viable. It only had to be better option than famiclones and Genesis and it arguably was
>>733766341Totally this. It was all about hitting that price point where it could attract those markets. Definitely not for everyone, but it carved out a niche where the usual big hitters couldn’t even operate.
>>733766072no becase ghosts are not real and even if they were, they wouldn't be contactable through mass produced board games
>>733766324I think this was the main culprit. They could have tapped into hundreds, if not thousands of already existing games. The device was, in theory, good : it had the right timing but the wrong place. Could have been a banger in South America, Eastern Europe and parts of Asia. The controller it shipped with was pretty bad too. If there was to be a new Ouya, it would totally flop now. You can make something like it yourself with a Samsung Galaxy S20FE or S21, a used one with a damaged screen is like $100. You need a dock and a controller and you've basically put together a much better Ouya.Stardew Valley, Dead Cells and a bunch of other native Android games already have controller support. Not to mention emulators.
>>733769320Also, having their own SDK instead of just making use of the Google one added a lot of friction for devs who may have wanted to throw it out there just to see if it sticks.
>>733766072I got one for free at eurogamer expo one year, they were just handing them out, never even opened it and just sold it to a CeX.
>>733766072>Did you guys ever played or owned a Ouya?Yes>Was it really that bad?No, it was fun for a couple of weeks>Did it ever have any good exclusives?Bombsquad was a fun party game, Towerfall was a timed Ouya exclusive, it was great, near the end of it's life Soul Fjord was really fun
