How come there's no arcade presence on /v/ while there's tons of threads for progression system games, gachas for example. Are arcade games just shite?

arcades are dead outside japan, and even there they're much rarer than they used to be
i wanted an arcade cabinet, but ended up just building my own since finding one to buy was harder

Uh yeah, they're time wasting carny scams.

I enjoy 1cc'ing things.

A typical western arcade is full of oversized mobile games, shallow Raw Thrills stuff, redemption machines for kids to try and farm tickets for dollar store trinkets at the prize booth, Gen X nostalgiabait, and maybe a DDR machine somewhere.

arcades are mostly prize machines now

outside of the arcade? to a degree
their fun comes from the communal setting, the competing with other people, people watching you, watching others, and not just being able to play it 24/7 and practice
sitting at home by yourself the game is not as fun and it does not have the replay value that the arcade setting provides it, in addition to getting bored of it much faster becuase you can just sit and relentlessly practice and play it for free for unlimited amount of time
