They were never particularly good. Golden Sun 1 and 2 are very basic JRPGs with very generic stories and characters. Visually it wasn't that great either. They were solid games but the xenoblade series is a hell of a lot better, regardless of the iteration you look at of either.

nintendo don't seem interested in making any games anymore. lots of franchises have just been left to rot. even mario himself is going to hit a decade without a new game soon. Odyssey was released in 2017, and we might not even get a new game til the 2030s

ask yourself this: if even mario has been abandoned, what hope is there for golden sun?
