Why are there so many fighting games, when the vast majority of them fail to hold sizable audiences for even a year? Are they just that profitable?
>>733778112I don't know but i stopped buying them.I just play third strike on fightcade nowadays. Maybe I'll start getting in KOF as well
>>733778112I assume they must be cheaper to make than your average vidya. Most expensive thing it's probably the licensing.
>>733778112>Why are there so many fighting gamesthere aren't, look at how many FPSes release every year and compare that to FGs
>>733778112The fighting game industry is just kind of stuck. Unless your fighting game is either Tekken or SF (and Tekken is kind of failing with 8) there's no real room for growth or success. SF6 is basically cannibalizing anything, even 2XKO which was supposed to set the new standard for both accessibility and it being a F2P game it's failing hard now that Riot confirmed they had to do some layoffs because it didn't meet their insane expectations. The fighting game genre is just that niche these days.
>>733778519>these days.Always was.
>>733778570Not in the arcade days.
>>733778601Still was.
>>733778519>2XKO which was supposed to set the new standard for both accessibilityThe thing with 2XKO is they failed to understand accessibility is not just your control scheme, but the entire structure of the gameYou can't expect the lack of motion inputs to make up for degenerate pressure, long combos and a ton of system mechanics you each need to use
>>733778112>Why are there so many fighting gamesThat's literally false. If you get a couple ones ever year it's a lot.
