This is gonna be a disaster in the making.

I would guess maybe it’s a spinoff but the marketing from Croteam seems to be pushing at another fully fledged SS game
It’s been so many years and now people are fucking poisoned against Multiverse stuff so this might not bode well even if it’s all in irony.

Years ago this announcement would've made me cum buckets but ever since >>733784980
happened I can barely manage to give a shit anymore.

We're never killing mental are we?
>>
It's probably going to be made 99% by indians so it's a fitting name
>>
Baffling how Croteam doesn't understand their own game and what made it good
>>
>>733790396
>favorite parts of first encounter(hate second encounter) are in the tight arenas having to manage space and prioritize the right enemies so I don't get butt fucked as just circle strafing will run me into a wall where I'll die
>WHATS THAT, YOU WANNA FIGHT A THOUSAND KLEERS AND BULLS IN GIANT OPEN ARENAS WHILE BEING SHOT AT BY ROBOTS!?!?!?
I already fell off with SS3 where I'd felt I'd already played this game before
>>
>>733784762
It's probably another indie spinoff, the only chance a new mainline Serious Sam entry has if they hand it over to that Russian studio that made Siberian Mayhem.
>>

Serious Samir
>>
Who even keeps buying these? They've made the same game but slightly worse five or so times. At least slop devs like fromsoft actually change up their endless sequels.
>>
>Kamikazes will now require overly complex and CPU heavy UE5 path finding to find the shortest straight line to player

lmao, even 10 enemies will be too much for 3600

>>733784980
>>733788019
>made every level the size of skyrim in 4
>borderline unplayable on decent engine
>ue5 puzzle game Talos 2 ran like ass
>maybe a dozen entities on the entire map
>now for sam chuck in 200 enemies, dozens of bullets, rockets, gibs, and 15 other players

at least we get new damjan tunes

based reborn enjoyer
>>
>>733790615
after the marvel multiverse shit in 4/sm, that name means its probably mainline

they have never made a SS game in UE5, they even developed their own software from scratch from it, in the 90's
it's literally called the serious engine

Yea and the guy that made it left to work on Stadia which resulted in SS4 being a dumpster fire and then they killed the engine to switch to unreal
>>
>>733795015
So they've never made a serious sam game on UE5?
Not understanding your point, other than desperately trying to make Croteam look bad by bringing up Stadia, something they had nothing to do with?
>>
>>733794620
total Serb death
>>
>>733795403
Not him:

The guy who left for stadia was their autistic programmer. Him leaving is the reason 4 ran like absolute garbage and he was a huge part of what made SS work.
So their inhouse engine dude is gone and Talos 2 was their game right after and that used UE5.

So there are 2 options:
They use another garbage engine they made themselfs or use UE5.
We will never win

Croteam's latest game is literally The Talos Principle remade in Unreal Engine 5
>>
>>733795403
I mean, if they somehow manage to save their engine I'll be more than happy to support them but I don't see how they're supposed to do that.

I hope the Siberian Mayhem devs were in charge of it and the actual Croteam team stayed the fuck away.

>remake TTP1 in UE5
>still have lore in it that the game in-universe runs on Serious Engine because it was provided for free and was the perfect engine for the simulation and its requirements, basically shitting on the company's legacy

>remake TTP1 with the same "art style" and fidelity as 2
>now contradicts the dialog in 2 where one of the bots describes the simulation as blockier and and simpler than the real world
>>
>>733795862
By "croteam's latest game" you mean a publisher requested re-release done by a third party studio, right?

>>733796036
>>733795692
You guys are talking about Ladavac, right? He's one of 41 other employees, who worked on it. One guy leaving isn't the reason. Devolver purchased the entire company in 2020 and since then, they've been under leash.
Hey sure, SS4 ran like ass on release, I can't deny that! But I don't see a reason as to why they'd put 30+ years of work into something and just give up for no reason? Even the secondary team that made Syberian mayhem used SE. If you've used the SE, you'll know it's pretty easy to make stuff, roads and buildings are just nodes on a map. All they need to do is just make a fucking game and I'll support them, it's really not that complex!

Man... SS TFE and TSE are the pinnacle of SOVL
>unique settings
>great art direction
>great and varied cast of enemies that are just as memorable as the ones from Doom, and just like Doom, they are all distinct

You don't need anything more, i have no idea why they tried to shoehorn some sort of "deeper" plot into the newer games but it's super cringe.

Devolver literally bought Croteam and they're still credited as developers
>>
>>733796523

No. Fuck positivity. There can't be any good in life.
>>
>>733796972
Yes, they would be credited as developers. What's the problem here, officer?

>>733796973
We're not talking about Acti-shit or fucking Ubiplopp, it's not 500 people in slave formations making lootboxes to target ADHD kids, it's a group of like 40 serbian dudes who make video games because they like them. They're one of the few hopes we have left in the industry.

>>733790396
It was never that good, it's a press S+Click "shooter" game

unironically one of the best fps ever made

i prefer the HD versions thoughbeit

I have faith it'll be good. After SS3 Alen Ladevac got up his own ass; there's nothing in Sam4 that we see that couldn't have been done in Serious Engine 3.5.
>but muh france driving level that's larger than Skyrim
Abysmal shit. Didn't add anything to the narrative of Earth being taken over by Mental's forces. It was Ladevac trying to sell Serious Engine 4 to developers and failing miserably. Serious Sam 5 is going to be a good game, there's no doubt.

Now all Croteam has to do to make me touch Serious Sam 2 is remove the soul by replacing all of the assets with SS3, 4, HD remake aesthetic ones
Followed by deleting all cutscenes and dialogue.
