In a broad sense, we as a society are all wearing masks. So many things going on at once, so many lives changing, ending, beginning all at once, and the Sisyphean cycle repeats day after day. I feel as though I'm among the few who sees through it, through the illusion of it all. People I grew up with, went to school and/or university with, etc are all married now, or at least have kids, while I'm just working, playing vidya, and living life on a hamster wheel. Perhaps, then, this is why Majora's Mask is my all-time favorite Zelda.

Im gonna let you in on a little secret that you’ll only realize at the end of your path to narcissistic enlightenment: you aren’t one of the “few” who sees through it. You’re one of the many. You’re not special, and you never were. You never knew some secret knowledge that places you above billions of people like you desperately need to believeEveryone knows what you said. But you know the difference between you and the people you look down upon? They accepted it, and chose to live lives of meaning. You see careers, kids, wives, and social activity as foolish because, you, my friend. are the foolish one. Because, you, my friend, have chosen to stay in the misery of knowing rather than to embrace the knowing like every healthy well adjusted person does. You are not special. One day you will realize this. And then perhaps you too will be free to live happily. But the choice will always be yours

>>733789950That's a possibility to be sure, but i get the impression most people mistake the mask for their own self
