It's technically the first sequel to Ridge Racer (Ridge Racer 2 is just like a 2P cabinet or something, it's not a real sequel).

Rave Racer introduces the shittiest track in the entire series aka Greenpeak Highlands and its OST is a bunch of demos. The camera tilts like a motherfucker and makes drifting feel like cancer. It was popular in arcades because it was an actual sequel. Problem is Namco were too busy being gay retards so by the time Ridge Racer V came around they had to soft reboot it.
