It wouldn't just be one small thing if it were canonized, we might get a whole subplot dedicated to it. I just don't want Sam and Max to go from freelance police to faggot police. But the game not being funny is the bigger concern for me too, I just feel like these two things would go hand in hand. If the writers were still good, they would leave it as it was in the telltale era: ambiguous at best.
