The port actually turned out to be good with a 30fps quality mode, 60fps performance mode, and 40fps intermediate mode.

Make a good Switch 2 port and it will sell, simple as that. People DO buy 3rd party games on Nintendo platforms, contrary to the beliefs of people who are still mentally stuck in 2012.

yeah despite skyrim being 15 years old at this point, a lot of people first experienced it on switch and I think its still among the eshop bestsellers

A lot of ports on switch 1 simply didnt do as well because they came too late. Everyone begged for persona 5 on switch and it didnt come until 2022 and no one cared anymore
