Also - Do you like what 343 did with the franchise so far?

Personally, I don’t. But I will admit that what they did with the character Atriox and his backstory was kinda cool.

Halo 2 was the last good Halo game so Bungie leaving didn't affect anything.

I liked Reach
I’m happy Jun made it in the end

After Reach I always figured that the story would shelve MC for a while and focus more on the Arbiter and the post-war struggles for power, maybe with a hint of ODST like gameplay as the UNSC tries to keep Sangheili fighting between eachother while humanity rebuilds.

Maybe building a whole new trilogy out of it before namedropping MC again.
But it was too much to expect, 343 was too afraid of experimenting and they rushed back into the main plot of the trilogy, never realising they could never live up to Bungie.

At least we got Cortana with those nice tits, ass and feet.

I like MCC because it bought some Halo games to PC, finally.
Atriox is good, Escharum too, in a more cheesy way.
Some book lore stuff might be ok.
But Halo 4 and 5 fucked up the story and setting's narrative direction way too much, Star Wars sequel trilogy moment of Halo.

It would still be shit. Halo was never good and there is no difference in quality between the Bungie and 343 games.

The series should have stopped there, 3 ends with the chief getting into a cryo chamber when the first game started with him crawling out of one. Perfect beginning and end

>343 was too afraid of experimenting
The opposite, they wanted to experiment by making it focused on Chief's character and history rather than Chief's role as a single but important cog turning in some inconceivably large military machine

I disagree
Bungie was more invested in keeping art styles consistent (343 made grunts look fucking horrible and different until they fixed their shit in Infinite) and the story was a bit better under Bungie too
>>

I don't think I would call that experimenting. I think that's just being obsessed with Chief and misunderstaning that the protagonist of the series is humanity, not one faceless guy.
They were scared to move away because the fans loved Chief and they wanted the fans to love them so they tried to connect the dots and failed.

I do, it's a part of their change in the genre from science fiction to fantasy with science fiction trappings

Chief was clearly the MC, even in Fall of Reach, which predates Combat Evolved, and the Legendary extra ending in 3 shows Chief's half of the Dawn drifting toward Requiem, so clearly even Bungie was setting up his story to continue at some point, even if they themselves didn't know how.

That said, I do personally consider 3 the end of it, and 4 a little epilogue for people who don't like leaving it with Chief and Cortana drifting through space potentially forever. Easily disregarded by anyone who doesn't like the Human/Forerunner retcons.
>>
I'm actually kind of hoping that they remake 2 and 3 after Campaign Evolved, because they could reinsert content that Bungie might not have had time for in the originals, and have more consistent writing between the games. 3 has always felt "off" to me compared to CE and 2, and I didn't realize until recently that it had different writers, and combined with some of the voice cast changes, some returning characters from 2 feel like completely new ones.

Namely Prophet of Truth. I loved his calm and collected, ever-scheming presence in 2, coming off like he knows more than he's letting on, then he shows up in 3, and he's just a generic screaming seething zealot.

>>733807531
Well I sure trust 343 to do justice to that idea and not butcher everything you love in service of more Forerunner shilling
>>
>>733807950
Then I'll just forget that it exists and continue right on disregarding everything after 3. There's really nowhere left to go from here but up.

>There's really nowhere left to go from here but up.
Oh, you sweet summer child. It can get worse, and it most likely will.
>>
>>733808349
I mean, how? Serious question. I personally feel like we've hit bedrock. It's basically a flatlined franchise at this point.
>>
>>733808178
I'm hopeful they overwrite all existing copies of 1/2/3 with the new ones then rewrite Reach and ODST for the Modern Audience.
Thanks to the incredible advancements in efficiency that AI has given microsoft this is not only feasible but almost certain to happen
