Gambling in general is a pandemic that not enough people are talking about. It's always been around in some form but it really feels like in the last decade or so it's ratcheted up to another level. The amount of "skill game" parlors springing up in small towns across America over the last several years is fucking eerie. It's been normalized for kids for a few generations now, pokemon cards kinda flew in under the radar and now we're onto lootboxes and CS:GO skins and keys and all that shit. Day trading has captured the minds of adults going all-in on gamestop and meme stocks. Sports betting has exploded over the past several years to the point where there's concerns over NBA players throwing because they've also got money riding on the outcome. And then you've got Gacha which is an unholy union of gambling addicts and porn addicts.There's a thread up making fun of the "nanny state" NY for trying to curb this but honestly if it's not addressed sooner it's going to continue to get worse. FUCK gambling and FUCK gacha, do not pay real money for anime waifus it is a trap!

i play Genshin Impact because i find the gameplay itself fun and like that the whole game is available to you even if you spend nothing.there is no upper limit to spending however and while you can force a 5 star to appear for $20 or less it can easily cost $150-200 just for a failed coinflip if you buy currency in the most expensive way possible, not great but i understand it as it lets the whales make up for the f2p players.overall i find it a good filler game between traditional game releases but the community has a really bad coomer and schizo problem for sure.

The runs are long though I think my fastest max difficulty, optional hard zone true end run was like an hour and 40 minutes.

The only gacha I play is Fate/Grand Order and I legitimately enjoy the gameplay, but also the story is interesting to me generally both on its own merit and for the subject matter. I watched a play of A Midsummer Night's Dream specifically because I wanted to know who Oberon was before Lostbelt 6 came out and it ended up being something me and my mother bonded over.I've tried many other gachas but typically drop them within a month or two.
