A lore- and story-heavy franchise such as Marathon is completely wasted on golems who just turn their brains off and get their rocks off on leaving the game area with full inventories while also fucking over other golems who are trying to do the same. They either extract and get their 30 seconds of dopamine or they die and they punch their monitor in a 30 second fit of primal rage, after which they just drop in again, and it's rinse and repeat until the game servers shut down. There's zero value to this experience for anyone involved.There was never really a place for a new Marathon game in my opinion, especially not a reboot, Infinity pretty much gave the players the keys to the kingdom with Forge and told players to just go nuts until the universe collapses. For people who wanted modern Marathon, Halo was already that, a natural continuation of what set Marathon apart from other shooters. Some people say there should have been a Doom 2016-like reboot but I don't think that was ever in the cards, nor should it have been. They should've just made this game with a fresh IP instead, because this game is just spitting on the faces of everyone who liked the original Marathon.

I don't really get this game. You can't revive your teammates? They basically die instantly after being downed. I also don't really understand the stakes in this game. You're just going in with a free kit and do the quests, but isn't the whole idea of this extraction stuff higher stakes due to the chance of losing your loadout? It doesn't really add up. I'm not feeling it at all. At least with this BR stuff you get a sort of ramping up near the end as everything gets more hectic but here you just die in 0.5 seconds when shot in the back and lose everything. I just played a match that lasted 12 minutes and I only saw two other players, both of whom were too far away to get a good shot off, neither of them saw me anyway. 12 minutes of running around, looking for something to loot, I guess, and I only fought a couple of those bug NPCs. I got to the exfil site, and I thought that maybe an ambush would happen like in the tutorial, but instead nothing happened.
Yiu fight the same enemies over and over. Every map has the same enemies. Everyone looks the same. The bots look the same as the robot looking players. Easily one of the worst games ive ever played

Literally the most fun i've had on this game so far was running around as a Rook knifing people at extract to steal their guns so i can go on a rampage.I don't think anyone should be surprised at the player drop desu, the reason why is very evident, there is simply not enough content or reason to even play this game. The only thing i genuinely enjoyed was killing players, everything else is mid.Remove most useless loot, improve the rarity of the loot to actually make it worthwhile to pick up and increase players in a map DRASTICALLY, this game lives and dies by PvP, you might think you are making the game more enjoyable to people by reducing the odds you will run into another player but you aren't, if this game was all about PvE it would be a completely boring snoozfest.Another thing i want to add is that the guns are all the same retextured, in tarkov you have different performance, more pen less pen and so on, here its all the same, you have 10 guns and they all do the same but the animation looks different.
