It was a fun festival. Remember to return one week or so before June 15th, where we will be stealing the press preview link and using it ourselves to play demos before the festival officially starts. Here is the summary of top demos, none of the ones we liked appear:https://store.steampowered.com/sale/nextfestmostplayedAs well, nothing prohibits you from playing demos outside of next festival, they do come out year-round. So that's an option as well.
>Fate TriggerForgot about this one, anons weren't talking about it whatsoever. I thought you were looking forward to it.
>>734144468Hubert showing that the industry is increasingly turning away from AAA garbage and playing kino instead.Pragmata and Monster Hunter games couldn't even make it to the top of the list, when generally Capcom demos are a fait accompli for #1. They got beaten by balatro raccoon ripoffs lmao.
>>734144008Oh dear. I just realized something. This Next Fest had a little over 3k games so if I liked 3 games from it, that means I liked around 0.1% of it. Derp.
>none of the ones we liked appearSkill issue, 3 of mine are on here
>>734144317>none of the ones we liked appear:We?
>>734144317https://store.steampowered.com/app/3484790/Fractal/alright portal-like with lasers and mirrors instead of portals, the physics need a lot of smoothing out and the purchase value is heavily going to depend on how many rooms the guy makes.
>>734144441actually fucking hilarious they ever considered making a gacha with this kind of art; at least they saw reason at some point
I'll post mystery games one more time.https://store.steampowered.com/app/2611210/Connected_Clue_Demo/https://store.steampowered.com/app/1595390/Castle_Dornstein/https://store.steampowered.com/app/2548780/304_Seconds/https://store.steampowered.com/app/4176940/Thomas_Ireham_in_Crimson_Spotlight/https://store.steampowered.com/app/4111040/Grgoire_Lefbvre_Investigations__The_Vow_of_Hate/https://store.steampowered.com/app/2466900/The_Posthumous_Investigation/https://store.steampowered.com/app/4264720/The_Last_Wizard__A_Goblin_Detective_Mystery/https://store.steampowered.com/app/4017820/The_Angels_Devil_Tail__One_More_Question_2/https://store.steampowered.com/app/3972170/On_Air_Taxi_Detective_Casebook/https://store.steampowered.com/app/2928230/There_is_NO_PLAN_B__Episode_0/https://store.steampowered.com/app/4280150/A_Study_in_Blue/https://store.steampowered.com/app/3103560/SideEye_High/https://store.steampowered.com/app/3600360/Rose_Academy/https://store.steampowered.com/app/4012690/The_Big_Hollow_1982/https://store.steampowered.com/app/3623630/Code_9/https://store.steampowered.com/app/3184990/The_Occult_Detective/https://store.steampowered.com/app/3756940/The_Ratline/https://store.steampowered.com/app/2913610/What_Awaits_Aleksey/
>>734144317From the top list I played>Vampire CrawlersWas alright>WanderburgDidn't like it>Everything is CrabThis was cool>RaccoinQuite nice>Tap Tap LootI don't get why so many played this. I like idle games but it felt empty>...Oh that's it? I saw Bid King was in the list as well and while an anon said it's really interesting, it's just funny seeing a full AI slop game actually being enjoyed. It had a 5k peak and even right now 2k people play this
>>734144317based anon, I'm going to keep playing games for a whileI'm surprised there's not more chinkslop in the top of the fest>none of the ones we liked appeartrue for me, but I see a few that anons kept mentioning. mostly slop but a handful of promising titles. pragmata, darkhavengambonanza maybe>Guardians of the Wild Skysomeone on the steam forums mentioned the dev had abandoned the last three games they shat out. this one did seem semi decent though, at least the pokemon aspect of it.
De-wishlisted several games that didn't get a demo during the festival, like I expected.
>>734144317Any good city builder to try?
>>734144441>>734145110I like high score girl but the style certainly isn't for mass appeal
>>734145626removing a game from my wishlist after a bad demo feels almost as good as finding a good game lolI have >1500 on my wishlist already
>>734144317>none of the ones we liked appearMost of the discussion in these threads revolves around shit games with anime girls so it makes senseAnyway, CRABchads we won
I just want to say ruin: beast city was shit and the journalist that recommended it here has bad taste
Got through a fair few, still got like 15 demos to go through.Red where shit or just straight didn't launchYellow was competent but not for me or kinda disappointingGreen was fun and wishlisted
>>734143786>multiplayernow that I think about it that's a most played cheat code.even if the demo and servers remains up you have no guarantee it'll have enough players so you have to play it within the next fes period.
>>734145837>black protagonistit's your fault for falling for it
>WitchspireReally made me feel appreciation for botw lolEnvironments have potential but the monotone green just makes it all blend into mushCombat was terrible, enemy designs too
are there even enoguh coins in the dead watch demo to buy the key?
Croak was the best demo imo. If the dev plays his cards right it'll be very successful.
Whoops I messed up. I said that there were three demos that stood out to me but I forgot there was a fourth. I forgot about Donutal because the demo for it had already been available but since it was here too I feel I should include it.
>>734145905>Back in the Swampextremely sloppy AI, what did you see in it? are you liking it ironically?
>>734144317Just making the usual appreaciation post for all of you /v/irgins, the NextFest threads are unironically the best actual video game threads on this board while the event is up and I look forward to the shit you guys find every time
>>734146619I haven't played that style of game in a long time. If there was AI shit in there I wasn't paying close attention enough to notice it.Not gunna call it game of the year but it was pleasant enough
I love the vibes of Airframe Ultra but it doesn't feel satisfying to play at allNot sure what they're expecting as a multiplayer game
>Thanks to starting early i only have a few demos left to tryFeels good>>734146509I only managed to find 12>>734146802Cheers!
>>734146619what will it take to get AI freaks to shut up. They aren't even capable of telling the difference anymore and just guess at this point.
>>734147030It won't happen but having an actual lobby UI instead of some huge physical space you need to navigate would be nice.I shouldn't have to huff it for 3 minutes just to toggle some settings
>>734146509To get last coin you need to either kill Lumi or fall off the bridge after unlocking the exit, then something new will happen in next loop
>>734145905Scott Pilgrim is very fun, i liked also Dungeons of Dusk
>>734146619Loving the fact that AI advanced so quickly that the drawings aren't even distinguishable any more. AIfaggots in shambles. That's why they were so obsessed with the silly little AI disclosure tags. They wanted to keep hating AI even when they stopped being able to tell them apart from human art. But if there's no quality difference, there's no reason to hate it in the first place.
>>734147132I love how they're constantly embarrassing themselves now by attacking human made stuff on accident. Utterly mindbroken.
Another next fest, another 20 demos stuck on my drive for 6 months (1/3rd already got made unplayable after their next fest week)
>>734147285I thought dungeons of dusk was fine, but the endless green brown backrooms tier environments where very meh, made me just want to go play actual dusk rather than see more of the game
>>734147351bro, the eyes

Reality check. Any of your previous fest favourites coming this year or are they still in "Soonâ„¢" limbo?Me, I'm eating good in 2026>HOMM>Mechanicus 2>Sandustry>Mars Tactics>Menace>Nova Roma>Everything is crabLet's not be vulgar and talk about early access

Thanks for the great threads guys. Was a great fest in everything but H-games, although I blame steam for that.I missed a game from my big spam of games last thread so I'll link it because I think it's probably one of the ones I'll get on launch (the only good porn game in the fest)https://store.steampowered.com/app/4289020/Monstergirl_HuntersAnon (the dev) Alleges there will be an H-patch released on launch.

>>734147852A free helicopter ride you say?
>>734149331if the only metric is number of unique players then multiplayer games probably just have an inbuilt advantage. The metric I'd really like to see is highest conversion rate from demo played to wishlist (within reason, obviously doesn't make sense if like 1 guy played a demo and wishlisted).

>>734150406If the Dev shows up I want him to link where he will put the patch.

Mostly a dumpster dive for me, though not unfun. I guess I kept picking stuff with interesting logos.
Well I guess this is it for next fest. Thanks for participating, I hope all of you had fun and managed to find some interesting games. See ya next time!

>>734164418I play games that look terrible all the time. Binding of the isaac is absolutely repulsive, for example. You're just a newer version of an annoying retard who's always been around. The type who prefers style over substance. Graphical fidelity over gameplay. The fellow who judges a book by it's cover. People don't change, they just find new and innovative ways of being pests.
>>734164842You can actually judge a book by its cover.Ugly people are bad people.Ugly games are bad games.Sorry you're ugly.
>>734147351>the drawings aren't even distinguishable any more>posts a "drawing" that's very obviously AI at a quick glanceYou're never going to prove your point by being retarded. But I guess your point is inherently retarded, so that'd be a difficult thing to do.The only way to make AI art look like something that could've been made by a human is obfuscate it's authenticity by making it look like a rough sketch. Anything that you try to make look polished will look like shit every single time. Only a human artist can make polished art that doesn't look like a soulless computer program made it.
>>734144468Played for couple matches. It's another UE5 slop BR slop. I somehow doubt weebs will be able to run the game smoothly if at all. They didn't play Starward, Mecha Break and Strinova. They won't play this one.
>>734164842I was going to say this post was based but then I saw you were defending AI garbage with it. AI art isn't bad because it looks bad (it does 95% of the time), it's bad because it's emblematic of a lack of effort or care.>>734165048You're just as retarded though. I'd play a game with MSPaint scribbles if the game design was great, and in fact I have before.
>>734165285It's very inconvenient when the side you disagree with makes convincing statements, isn't it? Well have no fear, you can just ignore everything you don't like to hear.

Youtubers have been filtered. It's a Next Fest miracle!
>>734153723I like Maid Mech it's a dumb little game, reminds me a lot of old flash/newgrounds game i once play.

>>734150626I like Touhou and Polytopia, but this is unfortunately just a poor quality ripoff. Everything about it is copied directly from Polytopia with only a few very minor changes outside of the Touhou skin. The sound design and animations are also significantly worse. I could forgive it if it at least had 3d graphics and animated models, but it doesn't, and a lot of the sprites get blurry if you zoom all the way in.

shit was really bad this timeI think deep snow delivery is the only one I would buy on releasedThe rest, I might buy a couple if they're cheap but that's it
Decent fest this time, got through a lot more compared to the previous one>Hovercrafts x NihlismVehicular combat boss-rush sort of game. Focus on traversing the environments in your hovercraft to get to each boss. Too much time spent on traveling though, had to get through two map transitions to get to the second boss, and by that point I got bored. Dropped>CicadamataPlatformer score/time attack game with nuMarathon's aesthetic with some homages to the original Marathon trilogy. A bit visually cluttered, and enemies aren't that interesting, on top of score attacks not being my thing. Alright, but not my thing, might only consider pirating it or buying it on a sale>Starship Troopers:Ultimate bug warSimple FPS about killing bugs. Not much to comment on in the 20 minutes I gave it. Guns don't feel that nice, bugs aren't interesting to fight, friendly AI sucks, the shotgun kind of blows. Dropped>Panic Floor!!Precision platformer. Gave it a chance because bunny sexo, but only reinforced that this genre isn't my thing>DragonflyFPS with destructible walls. Has some influences from FEAR, but unlike FEAR the guns feel like shit and you have no crosshair, so you're forced to aim down sights to hit anything beyond spitting distance, and also the ironsights suck. That, on top of health pickups being really rare forces you to play excruciatingly slowly. Dropped>ULTRA0Space Harrier styled game but with a schoolgirl. Has a lock-on mechanic that lets you simply drag the 'reticle' over an enemy and the girl will start shooting, so it's pretty dumbed down. Had a decent time though, might pick it up>CTRLSINKBoomer shooter(?) FPS. No working audio sliders, no sensitivity options, shit AI, shitty guns, shit map design, MC that constantly quips in the year 2026. Complete dogshit that barely deserves to be mentioned at all>When we ArriveCo-op slop but it's also a walking sim. Tries to use the 'journey is the destination' line to excuse the lack of actual content. Dropped
>>734148760Tried this on io, was great except that it’s all yuri and dickgirls. I wanted to make a monstergirl harem, anything similar that actually has (You) enjoy the harem? Preferably not as a goblin.
>>734170854>deep snow deliveryBased.
>none of the ones we liked appearI have Far Far West, Pragmata and Denshattack there.Far Far West feels like Helldivers but with cowboys. My friends and I were sold on it pretty quick.Pragmata's shoot and hack gimmick took some getting used to but seems promising.Denshattack is simply fun.
>>734170901>Bad PixelsFPS but with 8-bit style graphics and audio. Only seemed to have one type of mission where you just find the bandits and shoot them. Novel, but gets bland quick.>Maids of StormShop management game about running a maid cafe. Not my thing.>The Last Salvage SquadSimple Boomer-shooter about big robots killing the tripods from War of the Worlds. UI was a bit weird to wrap my head around, but it wasn't bad. Might keep an eye on it>Gunboat GodSort of side-scroller shooter. Really nice presentation, but didn't really stick with me. Might give it another chance down the line>Deep Snow DeliveryReally cozy delivery game in a not very cozy winter wasteland. Pretty simple, but there's a lot of heart in the character interactions. Wishlisted>forever-happy-townCo-op physics-based wave defense shooter, defend a village of rabbits for eight nights in some sort of weird 'vehicle'. UI kind of sucks, but it's pretty fun, but it's obviously balanced around a group rather than solo players, strangely the lobby maker has a 99 player limit, haven't gotten to test if that many players is possible. Will keep an eye on it.>Zombie Assault:ResurgenceTop-down co-op shooter. Not that interesting or memorable, feels very generic on every front. >GAL VS VILLAGENeat little nip-made boomer shooter. Enemy projectiles feel a tad too fast, and the melee enemies are pretty easy to deal with since you have a instant-kill melee, but it's still fun, MC has a nice design. The shotgun is fucking great. Wishlisted.>Stardust: Wish of Witch (picrel)Isometric strategy RPG. Surprisingly high production value; lots of high quality sprite animations, good music, even fully voiced (korean) dialogue. Would've liked to be able to explore, since it's just cutscenes and combat so far, but maybe the devs left them out to not bloat the demo. Combat is a bit slow too, lots of enemies, and a lot of time is spent on enemy turns where they don't do anything. Quite good though
>>734172592>Airframe UltraCombat racing game with a grungy aesthetic. Personally found it a bit jarring how the race will just stop just for an on-foot combat sequence, then go back to the bike race. Seemed alright though when my controller wasn't shitting itself. Do note that it seems to be PvP only. Might keep an eye on it or give it another shot.>Far Far WestMission-based FPS with a fantasy/western style. Certainly seems well-made, but objectives are placed really far apart to mandate using your mount, and said objectives were either pretty boring, time consuming, or both. Played it with a friend and we found it pretty tedious.>RIG RiotVery Armoured-Core inspired mech shooter in a rougelite frame, though it gives you the option to make it more 'extraction' flavoured with an option for you to lose your stuff on death. Pretty fun, though you don't get much breathing room with the constant enemy spawns. Objectives also sometimes get spawned in really weird spots too. Might keep an eye on it>Galactic VaultFPS rougelite ordeal, focuses on modifying your gun. Lost interest pretty quickly>Piper of Dawn (picrel)Chink farming/shopkeeping sim that's actually a mystery VN. Has the typical chink hallmark of super-competent MC surrounded by girls that fawn over him at first sight, but the story IS actually pretty interesting so far, and the girls are all cute. It's pretty buggy though. Wishlisted regardless.>Parasite MutantRPG-ish horror(?) game, apparently heavily influenced by Parasite Eve (Wouldn't know, haven't played it). Atmosphere is pretty nice, same with the MCs design. Combat was pretty easy, though some enemy attacks in the later chunk of the demo I couldn't really figure out how to evade. Will keep an eye on it>CALXA sort of action/adventure RPG game. Has a nice aesthetic, but the actual gameplay I found a bit lacking. Feel mostly neutral towards it.
>>734144649The writing in this demo was awful disney adult shit please don't tell me you enjoyed this anon
>>734174426>Steel ArteryColony sim on rails. Nice pixel art, but said artyle makes it pretty hard to parse stuff at a glance. Didn't really stick with me, but might need to spend more time with it to figure out>Cargo HuntersSingle-player extraction shooter. One of the gimmicks is being able to cut up enemy robots to reuse their limbs, but I never had a reason to do that. Guns all feel kind of wimpy to shoot, shotguns in particular suck shit. You also have a very low max carry weight, not that there's any point looting since there's no store to buy stuff from. Gave it more chances than I should've.>PeregrinoTop-down survival crafter with a lot of inventory management. Seems alright so far, but days seem to pass a bit too quickly, can't really do much in that limited time. Keeping a eye on it>Witch's Apocalyptic JourneyDeckbuilder roguelite. Dialogue is very padded out with lots of words that don't convey anything, so pretty chinese. The sprite art is pretty good, but the UI is poorly translated, actually, everything is poorly translated. Gameplay is pretty easy until the boss. It's okay I guess, has co-op too.>DarkswitchAnother colony sim, but it's on a big tree. Visuals are kind of shitty, and hard to parse from a distance, and I constantly had to fight the camera controls. The people all seem to be elves, but aside from the ears they all dress like fantasy peasants, which just seems really lazy. Dropped>SoulceryCardbuilder roguelite hack and slash. My eyes would've passed over this if it weren't for an anon mentioning it. The images on the spell cards are all really generic and samey though, I suspect AI was used for them. Surprisingly fun. Wishlisted.>MIGHTREYASuperhero spectacle fighter. All the visual effects make it a bit difficult to see what's going on in the moment, and having all your moves just shoved onto you in one go makes it a bit hard to remember all of them too. Kind of buggy as well, still fun though, wishlisted.
>>734172592>Bad PixelsI thought the state of indie boomer shooters was bad but this took the cake for me. Did the dev forget he was making a game? This is a tech demo at best.
Not to interrupt all the wrap upBut a new Demo just droppedhttps://store.steampowered.com/app/4130370/Ryn_And_the_thread_of_life/Character control and combat has some jank but it generally snappy and responsive. Really enjoying the character designs and look of everything, the potential for deep lore has me interested too. The setting feels like it has a lot of thought put into it.A boss execution QTE is always appreciated as well.Music loop is getting to me and graphics are a bit off are my main complaints tbhdesu
