i'm noticing even the comments are finding it hard to say good things about 2 other than "better gameplay than 1 (kind of)"

Their first game told you after the credits to send them an email and tell them how the game made you feel and I warned them that despite how excellent the rest of the game was the true ending jumped the shark and that they should try to tone that kind of stuff down for the sequel because it wasn't their strong point(they never replied).

Not my fault they decided to triple down on their retardation.

you mean the "true" ending as in the betrayal ending, the dev fight, the cat god, or the normal ending?
>>
>>734226612
they replied
the answer was shade breaking it down white boy style and saying "nothing matters lmao"
>>
>>734226628
It's been a long time so I don't remember the specifics, but I mean whatever is the "main" ending where you play as that pink character.
Everything up until the pink MC showed up was good in my eyes.
>>
>>734226821
That is also around the point where I stopped caring.
>>
>>734226821
ah, so just euphoria rollercoaster/goodbye
yeah actual character writing isn't really their strong suit, but i do think the music and visuals carries that section so hard for me
>>
did the devs learn fucking anything from all this?
do they even care? i doubt i'll play anything else from them again
>>
skip to 4:10 for the dev's schizophrenic ramblings about encountering gnomes IRL
>>
>>734227467
is he finnish? if so then that's just a day in the life, something like 20% of them actually believe in fairies
>>
>>734227308
>did the devs learn fucking anything from all this?
Anon, they made an entire game just to make fun at the fans of the first game
What do you think

qrd?
never played either but this sounds ridiculous

>>734226005
Was this the shitty undertale wannabe?
>>
>>734227759
i don't know the whole story of why the did it, but 2 is a massive disconnected string of non-characters doing nothing that makes sense in entirely random ways to achieve nothing and have no plot entirely for the dev at the end of their 8 hour game to tell the player they were stupid for wanting a story or caring about the characters and to enjoy the flashing lights and not think so much
you might think that's my bitter hyperbole but no that is literally what happens in the game, i'm not at all exaggerating
>>
>>734227759
The proposed takeaway of the first game was that in the face of infinity, "nothing matters".
Most fans didn't take this message in the way the developers wanted, so they made a sequel where nothing you do matters and are told at the end that "this is what you wanted right?"
It's all very childish and petty.
>>
>>734228109
>The proposed takeaway of the first game was that in the face of infinity, "nothing matters".
this is a really weird message for the devs to have since in 1 everything you do matters, your actions as red change the world permanently and achieve a tangible goal for all of it's inhabitants
>>
>>734228306
>your actions as red change the world permanently and achieve a tangible goal for all of it's inhabitants
Well, yeah. Up until the true ending where Pink comes along after you "help" everyone into oblivion.
>>
>>734228434
but i mean, the game ends with everyone literally moving on into some kind of afterlife, pink doesn't undo anything she's just along for the ride. it's not like the universe resets or anything, everyone is still dead and moves on, you literally watch them move on and then the credits roll
>>
>>734228612
Okay, now let's consider the moment before oblivion.
What were people doing? What were they doing a thousand years before then? How about ten thousand years? A million?
Can you recall the movie theatre, anon? What movie were they showing?

Nothing has changed. Not really. In the face of infinity, everything you do is merely a repetition of a previous action.
And now? Everyone has been erased. The world remains still. For all eternity. Did your actions truly end up making a meaningful change?
>>
>>734228612
>>734228990
What I'm trying to say is: no one was alive despite being alive. Everyone coped in their own way. You killing them changed nothing, as their existence was meaningless in the first place.
And this is not what I think, this is what the developers think.
>>
>>734228990
i choose to believe they did
now the devs must make everhood 3 where instead of a game it's 10 hours of the words FUCK YOU FUCK YOU FUCK YOU flashing over and over
>>
Everhood feels so pretentious. I played it on a whim and beat it, and sure you play as Geno, Flowey is an ATM Machine, and the plot twist is the Pink Diamond Steven Universe reveal sure. But it ended with this tone of "look at these friends you made", but there was zero growth and I didn't feel anything towards any of them.

Best part: The actual reveal when you got your arm back in that eerie room. The lightning crack was good to reveal the wall words, that part was kinda cool.

Worst part: The music, all of it. Why is none of it memorable? That one gnome fight was okay (visually, not audibly) but the music is poopoo.
>>
>>734229089
god the devs are weird, what a load of bullshit
>>
>>734229145
you didn't like any of the music, really

How the fuck do you make a game about helping suffering immortals let go and pass on to the afterlife and unironically think that?
The Green Mage and the Frog beat your head over and over with how it's the right thing to do(probably so it doesn't feel like an edgefest), did they unironically write them thinking they were in the wrong?
>>
>>734227759
2 is a bunch of random plot points that'll either never get followed up on or is immediately resolved, so there is never any pay off for anything. The final boss(which isn't even set up beyond five minutes near the end) explodes midway into the final battle and it just cuts to the end credits. Then the post credits fight is against the guy in OP who is basically a dev insert saying he doesn't give a fuck about writing or the story and everything he did(he barely appears by the way) was just to give the flimsiest reason behind the fights in the game.

Personally I don't think it was meant as a middle finger to the fans, but it was still extremely retarded to waste customers time with the writing, all while knowing that it wasn't any good. All this led to was people being dissatisfied, with some taking away the message that the devs were making fun of them, like what the other anons are saying. Also the fights which they wanted people to mainly care about are worse than the first one, since the devs didn't know how to balance being able to fight back with a nondetermined amount of damage.
>>
>>734229532
>did they unironically write them thinking they were in the wrong?
That's the amazing part: yes. Yes they did. And that's why they got so butthurt over people "not getting it".
>>
>>734229716
>the best parts of the game were written by accident while trying to make them be in the wrong
Fucking amazing, no wonder 2 was such a mess when the devs are that retarded.
They probably were fuming that the Green Mage ended up so popular while the Pink girl was a literally who.

Really? Everyone seems to be saying that the gameplay is better than in the first one
>>
>all is vanity
doesn't work when you don't have you chase vanity to beat the game. it's too easy.
people feel insulted because they don't even get the "insult"
>>
>>734233815
The fights are too easy since the patterns are much easier to dodge, you can take more hits, you can do a ton of damage with even just an 'okay' combo and the right weapon, and the bosses seem to have less health. This means you end up finishing the fights very quickly, and in some cases, only hearing a quarter of the song for the fight, which makes the fights end up feeling worse.
