Grace's reaction to this whole scene is so weird. It feels like it was leftover from earlier drafts of the story where she saw reports of a possible antiviral, thus giving her the idea that Emily "could be saved" but then they wanted to scrap it to keep Elpis a complete surprise. This is only my assumption, but the way it plays out now, her reactions feels totally nonsensical and inappropriate to how she has been reacting previously to all these monsters. Especially getting mad at Leon over it. I can see why she would have guilt, but I can't see why, from a motivation perspective, she chooses to hold a big enough grudge that she joins the villains. The whole thing feels like a partial rewrite that makes no sense but has to exist to keep the story going.
This was the last straw for her. after her mom's death this was the thing that pushed her over the edge. it's understandable that she was dejected enough to go with the guy that might give her some answers and closure.

I didn't really take it as her joining the bad guys or anything, she just knew the dude had superpowers and she was powerless to stop them.
