>They're actually doing another remake of Resident Evil 1
Can this industry crash already?
>>
>>734258251
As long as the Piss5 buying cattle keep preordering this shit, it won't crash.

Crapcom has not made a good video game in over 15 years, but the Minecraft generation zoomies and Alfas don't know nor care about any of that.
>>
>>734259513
most of Crapcum's sales are on PC for every release, the PS5chads are walking away from this bumass company
>>
>>734259574
According to Geimatsu, PS5 version's sales cover roughly 54% of all those ~6 Million sold copies, with PC following close second as the 36%, while Xbox reaches only 6% and Switch-2 a puny 4%.

The average PC mustard will NOT buy an 80 dollar AAA slop for full price nor day-1.
However, the rampant streamer culture twists those digits, as they want to play the latest shit for easy views.
>>
>>734258251
Capcom probably has 5 or 6 REs in development right now. At least 2 of them are remakes and at least one is a live service game. At best 2 of them will even make it into alpha.
>>
>>734258251
What will be considered the first infinite IP? One where you can just do some stitch-job on an established canon and guarantee a studio operating budget. Doctor Who? At least that has the good sense to move forward instead of rehashing existing canon constantly. LotR would count, but over its lifetime hasn't been milked nearly as bad as it appears at first glance. ACD's estate only owns like half of Holmes' relevant details/stories so that doesn't really count.

It's already so weird the frequency with which we're recycling stories told by retired people railroaded by technical limitations that have since changed in a totally different era. You could already occupy a normie lifetime with the technicals and lore of the RE games, imagine how bizarre it will be when its burdensome even for an autist to complete just the different versions of RE1 (and versions meaning more than just minor translation differences, but actual games where the developers haven't even played the mechanically distinct versions of the game they're remaking.)

>What will be considered the first infinite IP?
Which is so funny because RE wasn't supposed to be that at all. RE1 has all those alternate endings and choices because Capcom hadn't planned a sequel. But the game was a hit so Flagship wrote them 3 sequels and the series would have ended(or at least the story of the STARS vs. Umbrella). The RC survivors were meant to meet up with Chris in Paris, kick down the doors of Umbrella HQ. The End. But the games kept making money so Capcom turned it into an infinite IP that they reinvent every 3 or 4 games with new character, bringing back old characters(really just Leon and Chris) and reviving old villains..

Capcom developed the foundation for RE games on their. Literally all they gotta do is create assets, cutscenes and recreate the games. Why shouldnt they do this?
>>
>>734258251
But somehow your precious REmake 1 was okay, despite being made less than 8 years after the original? An expanded, 3D mansion where crimson heads and Lisa Trevor aren't completely wasted would, dare I say, be fun to play. Especially if it isn't piss easy like REmake 1 was.
>>
>>734260034
Nah Doctor Who is dead again, Disney didn't extended their partnership because the showrunner is a turbo fucking freak and certified hackfraud who's made the show jump about 10 sharks in the span of 4 years.

Ratings and viewership is under the dirt and it's likely to get cancelled and go into another wilderness era.

Crapcom is slowly running out of ideas for Resident Evil. RE1 does not need another remake. RE0 needs one and both outbreaks games along with RE Gaiden.

Do the Resident Evil games still play like the first one? I've never played any of them but the OG
>>
>>734258251
Are people so afraid of fixed camera? Muh tank controls argument doesn't work because modern RE games also have tank controls, that's literally how over-the-shoulder camera works.
For my money fixed camera is cooler becuase it's better at creating suspense and you can do freaky stuff like picrel.

The resident evil 1 remake was okay but had serious design flaws, namely the absurd amount of puzzles that break the pacing of the game once literally every five minutes. I played it once as the hard character with the limited inventory and considering replaying with the second charcter, but didn’t want to do all the puzzles again or figure out the new ones. It’s just pointless tedium designed to artificially pad out the length of the game, and it makes the replay experience suffer.

the amount of puzzles also works against the ambience eventually and becomes comical as early as like 3 hours into the game. And that’s generous. By hour 5 it’s annoying. I want more focus on evasion from enemies or fighting them, Remove 25% of the puzzles to improve pacing.

I can imagine some things they could improve from the REmake.
>make mansion look recently abandoned again instead of dilapidated
>bring back the Barry choices
>director's cut costumes
>full arrange mode
>semi-randomized ammo/healing item locations
>acknowledge the existence of RE0

>>734258251
But RE1 hasn't had a version in the modern canon of RER. Everything pre-7 is getting remade in the modern style. You will get up to at least 5, 6 will probably be remade but might not be called the 6 remake and will just vaguely be inspired by the events of the game that they want to continue carrying forward.
>>
>>734258251
RE1 remake is older than 0 and 4, and is almost as old as re3.

The scene where the giant spider climbs down the door behind you in the room with the pool table was always a great use of the fixed camera angle.

I’m fucking in. I was a wavering for a bit there after Village, because I didn’t give a shit about anything going on there, or anything it was teasing for sequels, but I’m now fully locked in once again.

We got our “Leon Trilogy”, and now we’re getting our “Redfield vs Wesker Trilogy”, and it would be nice to get those older games a little more narratively on the same page.

They already did annual releases for a while. The wait between RE4make and RE9 is the longest since between 6 and 7.
>>

That would actually line up with the steam stats for the systems that can run RE9. So no, it sold very well on PC and people that can run it bought it.
>>
>>734259513
RE7, 8 and 9 are great actually, idiot. And SF.
>>
>>734260747
RE comes and goes in semi-annual waves, and it’s always been that way, barring a few exceptions.

1996: RE1
1997: RE1DC
1998: RE2
1999: RE3
2000: RECV
2001: RECVX
2002: REmake and RE0
2003/2004: Break
2005: RE4
2006-2008: Break
2009: RE5
2010/11: Break
2012: Revelations and RE6
2013/14: Break
2015: REmake HD and Revelations 2
2016: RE0HD
2017: RE7
2018: Break
2019: RE2R
2020: RE3R
2021: RE Village
2023: RE4R
2024/2025: Break
2026: RE Requiem

Also, keep in mind that during the “Break” periods, we were still getting the live-action and CG movies, and a variety of spinoffs (Outbreak, Gun Survivor/Dead Aim, Umbrella/Darkside Chronicles, Operation Raccoon City, etc), so the series never really goes away completely.
>>
>>734258251
Why not? The first remake was largely just a graphics upgrade, with some new features, but essentially it was the same game. The new remake will be a different game.
>>
>>734264273
>RE1 does not need another remake.

While I agree with you, you and I both know that zoomers are confused and angered by fixed camera angles, and Capcom has to cater to them, or they’re going to find their cash cow franchise stuck with an aging fanbase.

They’re clearly teasing a remake of RE5, both with the way 4R ended and some of the story elements from Requiem, but they need RE1 and RECV to set up Chris and Wesker’s conflict first.
>>
>>734265116
Steve is precisely one of the reasons why CV needs a remake, to make him not a cringe tool. They also need to wrap up Claire’s story from 2.
>>
>>734258251
>all Crapcom does now are REmakes

Jesus Christ. Pretty soon all those big publishers will only rererererelease old games that they know people like and the only new games will be gachashit (but even there we can see strong signs of creative stagnation).
I guess that's the corporate "risk assessment" taken to its logical conclusion.
>>
>>734275884
They're clearly doing remakes of Wesker games for the same reason they had Zeno in RE9. The series is getting an actual villain again.
>>
>>734265116
>FAAAAAAAAAAAATHEEEEEEEEEER rendered in RE engine at 4K with Path Tracing.
Imagine.
>>
>>734276953
That's a no.
Zoom zooms already struggle to get through the remakes of RE2, 3 and 4. Yet another remake of a game they can play already will only add more impediments to progress. If the goal is to rewrite the story of Chris and Wesker, a new game could do that without being a remake of a remake.
>>
>>734263858
Sounds good. Let people have their good memories of the shows they loved intact, instead of turning it into another nu-Star Wars which dealt massive damage to the brand, not to mention Disney going after the expanded universe. Corporate greed naturally turns, what was once meant to have soul, into sanitized slop for 50IQ chimps. We've seen that scenario play out countless times over the past years, it seems being creatively bankrupt is now required to rehash every old IP that was loved by people.

but the leakers already confirmed that the next game was 5remake?
then the leakers confirmed that was wrong because 0remake was next?
then some leakers confirmed that was wrong because they'd personally heard CVremake was next?
now leakers are confirming all three of those were wrong because it's another 1remake?
why do people still give any attention to these "professional leakers"? they've proven time and time again to just be guessing and every time they're proved wrong they hide behind the same excuses of "oh, I guess they changed their minds" or "they decided to hold off on the reveal and instead are revealing a completely different game because they just are"
