Why did VR gaming fail?
Too expensiveToo tiringYou look like a faggot while playing it No justification besides porn and racing games
>clunky hardware>no decent games to use it on
It didnt.
>>734340381VR Gaming may suck right now but VR is steady growing.
>>734340381it created a niche but the technology is a bottleneck right now. If full dive becomes a thing it will take off. Unfortunately with this GolbaLiD shit taking off so hard it might come with stipulations.
>>734340561it's more dead than the kids in that school us bombed.
Because it's literal dogshit. Yesterday, my VR was working. Today, it isn't. Why? Who fucking knows, but the only way to fix it is to do a fucking full restart, which may or may not fix it.
>>734340561turn off your trip retard.
>>734340673Not really. My quest 3 gets daily use.
>>734340381No gamesThat's it
>>734340725I cant. Too many retards pretend to be me and I have to protect the gimmick.
>>734340381For the same reason why most consoles fail, it doesn't have a good enough catalog to attract people into the console, and if it doesn't have enough people, there's no reason for devs to migrate into it too. It's really cool for the first month, but after you already went through most """good""" games all you're left with are tech demos and abandonware, if you didn't get hooked with some of the few big games like VR chat you literally have nothing else to do with it.Also no actually good porn games yet.
>>734340561It did. Zucc has even fully shifted his development efforts into the AI field
>>734340381>try to force technology far earlier than it was ready to be used
Because glueing a screen to your face is a dumb gimmick
Screen games require you to press the ON button and then put your hands on your controlling device and that's it. VR games require setup and an environment big enough to use it comfortably. Using it also comes with the mental leash that tells you not to move too far or risk hitting something in your room. When you're not using it, the big and fragile headset takes up a lot of room on your desk or whatever. VR will come back when it's not burdened by real reality.
>>734340815The next meta product is just a pair of glasses with a puck.
>>734340896
>>734341256>next meta product2 more weeks brosIn 2 weeks VR will succeed
>>734341382It's gonna take a while.
>>734340496>You look like a faggot while playing itWhy are you playing VR games outside?
>>734341564More space.
>>734340814>reason why most consoles fail,Fucking Leave it to Beaver had a larger cultural impact than every current entertainment type because of media saturation. It's only going to get worse with media creation supposedly getting easier with AI
>>734341281That stream was literally a Jerma bit

Facebook bought all the good VR devs, forced them to make their games exclusive to Meta headsets, then decided they don't want to do VR anymore because they want to do AR instead Also, enjoying VR requires money, space, and a basic level of fitness. Few gamers have all 3t. owns a Quest 3 and thinks it's great but hoping for the upcoming Steam Frame to get things moving
>>734342794Welp. Its the outcome you chose. Order up for 24.
>>734340896Who needs 3D, 2D games are enough. Stop
>>734340381Too expensive.No games.Have little sister at home.
kids unironically keep games alive and vr has no kids, only 30+ single software devs
Because the frame hasn't been released yet.
Just because you don't have a VR headset and steam doesn't recommend you VR games doesn't mean it's dead.
>more third worlder sour grapesYeah, must be a VR thread.
>>734343310When I first used it, some young boy, pre puberty by his voice, noticed my default avatar and showed me around the place, taught me how to find this world with shit loads of free avatars you could copy and use. Also a lot of other stuff and details about the VR worlds I had no idea about. He added me as a friend later and I accepted it, but I haven't played with him since because it feels weird to hang out with a little kid I don't know. It always makes me feel bad to ignore his invitations to play when we're both online, though. Hope he's doing alright
>>734343594Does it offer anything new or is it just Steam Vr
>>734340381game?
>>734340381it's a brick on your facesci fi media also "ruined" what VR is and should be
>>734340381flat gaming fail, I only play gzdoom vr now
>>734341205>VR games require setupnobody uses lighthouses or psvr/oculus cameras, modern headsets track itself and immediately track the boundary
>>734340814UOOOOOOOOOOOOOH I bet this is a sweaty grown ass oji san irl ToT
>>734340381It's extra investment that doesn't really translate well to all genres of games. Today we've got headsets that pretty much address all issues but the consumers purchasing power has narrowed too much to spend $1000 on new hardware before any games. That price also pushes out a lot of third world countries that could drive number of sales and solo developers.
>>734343095>Have little sister at home.Give her a headset too so that you can play together.
>>734340381Motion sickness. All other reasons are made up>nooo it affects a tiny minoritySevere motion sickness affects a minority but almost everyone feels a bit "off" after a couple of hours in VR. Like getting off a long flight, you just feel a bit off. I don't feel off after playing a flat game for 18 hours
>>734347875Hot
>pre-Boneworks VR devsDevs understand the limitations of the medium and try to make stuff that specifically works well in VR. These games are the classics of VR to this day.>post-Boneworks VR devsDevs go "DUUUUDE WE CAN DO LITERALLY ANYTHING IN VR THIS GAME MADE EVEYTHING CONFORTABLE NOBODY FEELS WEIRD IN VR ANYMORE DUUUDE" and everything they made flopped and died
>>734346408>brick on your faceYou can get an extra battery accessory, on the back of the headset, so it balances out the weight and feels the same as wearing a helmet or something. Tons of other options to make it more cozy as well. But once again, having a nice VR setup isn't cheap, and spending that much money on it just isn't viable for a lot of people. And even if they can, it's best with an empty room to play in. Also you can't be fat.
>>734347875probably reeled in by promises of rock CDs
>>734347983>feel offPeople used to say the same thing about flat screen games, even TV shows, with a lot of movement. Made people nauseated and motion sick. Probably you never experienced it because you got used to it when you were young. It's the same with VR. It's worse for some people than others, but you can just take it bit by bit until your body and brain adjusts. I've heard that having a fan blowing on you helps a lot with that, but I've never tried it myself. I felt pretty sick the first few times I tried it, and just took a break when that happened. Now I don't feel that at all even in the really crazy games
>>734340673>>>/pol/, you obsessed third-worlder
>>734350672This is a man btw95% certain a tranny, at that
>>734348508I have 200 hours in VR, that wasn't enough to get used to it. Like I said, it's not about feeling dizzy or sick, it's just about feeling slightly off. That's small feeling is enough to make me choose a flat game over a VR one every day. It's just more comfortable and people choose comfort
>>734340381can you give me me 30k
