Back in Overwatch 1, when Ana first released, her ultimate was considered broken because it did too many things at once. Matches could genuinely boil down to Nano Boosting a DPS and then watching them tear through the enemy team, because there often was not much counterplay once it got rolling. Blizzard eventually had to remove one of the ult’s effects to finally bring it into line. That is why Gambit’s ultimate in Marvel Rivals is so surprising. For a game that supposedly tests these ultimates and gets feedback on them, it feels like they are ignoring lessons that hero shooters already learned the hard way. And sure, you could argue maybe the Marvel Rivals devs just do not look at other hero shooters when they design and balance this game. But when Deadpool literally plays the Overwatch theme during his ultimate, that excuse does not really hold up. They clearly know the genre, they clearly know the history, and that makes this kind of design choice even harder to defend.
