Then on top of that you need to make a lot of custom assets (even if they're poor quality ones) and make sure they all thematically fit your writing. Then come up with some non-offensive gameplay that's again thematically fitting. Then the music to fit specific moods of specific scenes. And finally program the whole thing.If you're making a gameplay-first game, you can save a lot of effort on thematic cohesion of what's going to accompany it and outright skip the story.The clincher that make 90% of aspiring devs quickly abandon the former is realization that for all this effort you're guaranteed not to make a single cent off of it because it's a fanwork of a copyrighted video game.

The surface was before them all, and while Chujin expected humanity to throw them all back into the dark any day, that day never arrived.Chujin settled into his surface workshop after dinner, pouring through components and memories in search of answers. He tolerated the human’s frequent presence, at both Kanako and Ceroba’s request, but the child’s behavior struck him as odd. He wanted to believe that at least this one human wasn’t a threat, was no danger to his family with the praise everyone heaped upon him, but something didn’t sit right with Chujin.
