When the DLC comes out will you actually try to find the new content on your own or will you look it up online?
>>
i'm not even going play the game thanx to the time trial delivery mission. silksong can kiss my ass
>>
>>734978338
Just get the zoomzoom running charm and its ez, i fucked up plenty of the winning run like a retard and still won
>>
Why it's not like the grimm troupe was super hard to find in HK. Since it's sea themed I assume it's either left to the coral tower or right to bilewater.
>>734978338
you don't need the needle upgrade to beat the game
>>
Yes I'm going to try it on my own. What kind of performative faggot do you take me for?
>>
They'll massively delay it, turn it into it's own sequel, and then massively delay it some more.
>>
>>734979430

>>

Game sucked and I didn't even bother to unlock Act 3. Why would I go back for more shit content. The fact that they announced it so quickly means they knew the reception wasn't great.

>>
>>734981523
Yeah plenty of loretube HK tourists got filtered by the harder gameplay. Never seen so many normalfags cry about difficulty, not even when Elden Ring launched. It was great.
>>
>>734981729
>Plenty of people got filtered by the game they beat and said was boring and sucked dick
Dickriders cope the hardest. The game was just shit.

you can kill the enemies and not step on the bench so your path is mostly cleared

I would
but the new areas will probably be right where they are now in the form of cut content
so there's no need

I found Godhome on my own, but that's because I was still exploring HK and hadn't 100% it yet. I 100% this game, so I'll just look it up. In a best case scenario, it's like Grimm Troupe though and the quest starts in town.

For me it wasn’t even the difficulty, it was the fact like 60% of optional paths/secret rooms were dead ends with sometimes not even Rosaries/Shards to pick up.

As soon as I beat Last Judge/Phantom and realized this was going to keep happening for entire game, my interest dropped like a stone and I haven’t touched it since.
>>

It's easy as fuck, dude. Just plan out your route and clear out the enemies before taking the quest. And don't sit on a bench.

I'll try to find it. I already know it should roughly be east of bilewater and they might add something to one of the towns signposting that. Maybe something with Zylotol as well

It's hard to take criticisms of this game seriously when they're flagrant bullshit. The map is literally full of shit to collect.

Silksong is an objectively massive improvement over the original game. The combat is night and day. Silksong is an actually fun game to play. HK in comparison was a theme park ride.
>>
>>734977581
I'll give it a shot but if I spend more than twenty minutes wandering aimlessly after checking the hubs I'm looking it up
>>
>>734984696
bilewarter nigger nuts. they'll just throw it near bilewater.
>>
>>734977581
Eh I managed to get to get the good ending without guides, I should be able to catch anything new in a second play through
>>
>>734977581
I only used a guide to go back and get the 100% collection shit AFTER I beat the end boss. This game is quite playable without it.
>>
>>734986724
I may have embellished on the amount of dead ends, but they’re still enough of a problem that they made me stop bothering to explore and ultimately drop the game.
>>
>>734988229
(cont’d)

Also, finding a bunch of useless charms and shit isn’t exactly fun either.
>>
>>734986013
Those dead ends probably had hidden walls you failed to catch. Whenever I hit dead ends which felt off considering the work it took to get there, it usually gave me the sense that there had to be something else hidden there and pretty much every time I got that sense I was right.
There's entire bosses and areas behind such supposed dead ends
>>
>>734977581
no as Silksong was obnoxious and the DLC will probably ramp it up even further. only way i'd consider it is if they went back and fixed the base game (remove shards, dump Crests and bring Notches back, fix nail upgrade progression, no fetch quests, fewer flying enemies, etc.) I'd consider it
>>
>>734988380
That’s actually the worst part, I DID find those hidden walls on where I thought were dead ends, and the only one I can remember was worthwhile was the hidden Skarr merchant who sold the boomerang and the skull armour charm.
>>
>>734988735

>>734992758
Someone summarized very accurately in an ancient thread all the way back at launch that a big problem with Silksong’s difficulty is that it’s designed around people already familiar with Hollow Knight, so naturally people either completely new to the series using Silksong as a starting point or only played Hollow Knight casually are left in the dust.
>>
>>734977581
I 100% the base game blind, I don't see why the DLC would be any different. They might make some esoteric hard to access content this time, but that hasn't been their MO for the first 2 data points.

NTA, but isn’t the whole point of these games that you can use almost any loadout at any point, yet you can still come out on top if you have a good grasp of the gameplay loop?
>>
>>734992540
He was the worst part of act 3 for me. Shitty pushover boss after a gauntlet that overstayed its welcome.
The other three heart bosses were much better but act 3 in general kind of sucked
>>
>>734993812
By "the right tool" I mean the one that works for you. For me, that meant using witch crest + claw mirrors to nuke my way through the Coral Tower gauntlet waves. Someone else might prefer the architect to tool spam, or beast to face tank.
>>
>>734993773
Sorry, what I was referencing was how act 3 will literally power up enemies you were meant to take out in act 2. I don't want that to happen with the DLC, if it is accessible in act 2. Hopefully it's in a memory or outside of pharloom entirely. I'm totally happy for the dlc to be difficult as fuck otherwise
>>
>>734993812
Most of my combat was just hitting the enemy enough time to use Silk Spear, and then using Silk Spear. And that was with Hunter crest.

>>
Any tips for steel soul? I am going to start my run tomorrow
>>
>>734994162
The biggest piece of advice I can give you is: Don't. At least not yet. Do a regular run first, either to GMS or to LL in preparation for Steel Soul. Get familiar with enemies and bosses, and what crest you want to use. THEN do Steel Soul.

Once you're in Steel Soul, Hunter's March will be your biggest threat. The gauntlet at the end where Shakra joins in can end your run. You will have lenience after when you purchase the Fractured Mask. Then you're pretty much safe until Act 3.
In Act 3 the most dangerous part is the very beginning, when you have no tools equipped at all and you have to fight a gauntlet of voided Underworks enemies, the hardest faction. Save and quit before this to get back to full health, and be careful during this fight, you will likely need to know patterns beforehand instead of bruteforcing it.
>>
>>734994162
pause and quit if 2 health or lower, there you did it

You fucking faggots will whine about games being "casual and trivial and dumbed down", but then a game actually arrives willing to kick your shit in if you dont play smart and fight power with power and its just endless moaning

I agree the coral guy is boring as hell though. I didnt die to the runback but it must be frustrating to die there and not have noticed the shortcut. If you got mad at bilewater and continued to bang your head against it thats on you, if you cant do it you can come back for better gear later

>>
>>734994162
There are a handful of attacks (which do multiple damage instances) the Fractured Mask won't save you from, including attacks which knock you into hazards. Start by rushing all the movement upgrades (if you die to Widow 30 minutes in, it's not a big deal). Then you can slow down and 100% each area to get as strong as you can before dangerous fights. Obviously, complete everything you can in Act 2. Get Shakra to help with the high halls gauntlet. Anywhere there's fire or lava, equip the Magma Bell. Remember that you cannot die in dreams so you don't have to worry about Karmelita etc. At the very start of Act 3, you can quit and reload to get your masks back before the mini gauntlet that introduces voided enemies. Also the witch crest quest is also very scary, take it carefully.

I dropped the game in act 3
Gauntlets before bosses suck
The tools/rosaries/shards economy just sucks
Locked crest behind act 3 sucks
Exploration isn't rewarding.
The map is worse than HK, has tons of dead ends and meaningless endgame shortcuts that lead to low level areas when (Sands of Karak for example) because some parts of map were redesigned and entire areas were cut.
And you fight main boss 3 times.
Some parts of Silksong were kino but HK solos.
All facts.

Yes it is a problem.
Imagine picrelated. All those rooms are low lvl areas blocked by different red doors To unlock red doors you need to beat all those low lvl areas and reach endgame. After beating all those areas you have no reason to re-vesit them at all. You don't even need shortcuts because of teleports.
Instead of letting player to explore alternative paths, the game locks you to linear route. And this is metroidvania. Coral tower was cut. All coral tower routes were cut. You can see it on 2018 map.
>>
>>735000282
Shards are good because players who achieve a good balance of using and spending them have a good time.
The raw mechanics being so much better more than makes up for a few slightly worse map design tidbits.
>>
>>735001659
The amount of people I've seen who rely on Tacks/Cogflies to win battles for them is truly astounding. Take some time, study the blade. Learn your crest's strengths and weaknesses. Don't abandon your silk skills. Figure out when the right time to attack is, and when the right time to back off is. You'll rely less on "win it for me" tactics and instead start winning battles more. And you'll save on shards.

The people who complains about shards are the ones who dump all their tools on their first few attempts at the boss, skip phase 1 entirely, and then wonder why they're getting stalled at phase 2 with a rapidly-dwindling resource.

I complain about shards because they disincentivize using tools at all. You're completely discouraged from using tools at all while you learn a fight otherwise you will need to go and grind for shards in between attempts, and by the time you learn the fight your strategy will not include tools at all because you haven't been allowed to use them.
It's a dogshit system, and I challenge you to actually defend it without deflecting onto calling me or anyone else shit at the game

Lol ok. Sorry you spent your playtime apparently paralyzed by the fact that you might use an infinitely renewable resource that you get from every single enemy in the game non-optimally.
>>
>>735003112
>The people who complains about shards are the ones who dump all their tools
No. Shard system is just a garbage and prevents you from experimentation.
When I fight hard boss I'm looking for openings with my Silk Skills. In this process I will die over and over again but I don't care. Silk Skills are free. They're unlimited. I have fun.

But you can't do the same with shards. Yeah this "dump all their tools" fallacy is common defense from shard apologists but what if I don't dump them all? If I try to use my tool while learning the boss like how I do with Silk Skills I will eventually run out of shards. I can't even experiment with some tools because of insane shard consumption. It's just garbage. I ended up not using tools at all. All tools were useless for me.

See, you're unable to defend it on its own merits. You like it because it makes you feel like an epic gamer. I never actually ran out of shards because I didn't really use tools until I got to act 3, and by that point I had so many of the damn things I was in no risk of running out. But unlike you, I'm not retarded, so I can acknowledge when a system is bad even when it doesn't personally impact my game.
Now until you can think of a good thing about the system sit in the retard corner and think about your life

And yet, the fact remains that people who cry about shards are shitters constantly worried about running out, and who think running out of shards must mean putting whatever they're doing on hold for twenty minutes to go farm shards back up.
You will notice that both those issues are purely mental and completely self-inflicted. You could be worried about running out of shards. You should be worried about running out of shards. Running out of shards should be somewhere on your mind most of the time while playing Silksong (except when you're fighting a dream boss, and even then, you're worried about using your tools too early). It should influence what decision you make every moment, the most common of which being "do I kill this mob or do I just pass it by". But even if you run out, who cares? It'll build yourself back up. The game falls over itself to give you shard bundle. The only argument antishardfags have is that it's boring to grind shards back up so they never use them. So there's two situations
>1. You're a shitter who over-relies on tools and you should learn to use your needles and silk skills more
>2. You don't need tools to win fights and if you run out at some point you have the necessary skills to keep playing anyway
In both case the shard system works completely as intended and everyone complaining about it is probably in column 1 because why would you whine about a system that you don't need to win.

The only change I would make to it is give us some kind of free auto-fill right before the Lost Lace fight, since it's literally the last fight in the game and it's a good long fight suited for experimenting. I'd buff her health a bit to balance it tho.
>>
>>735003257
>and I challenge you to actually defend it without deflecting onto calling me or anyone else shit at the game
The two tools I used most often are Pimpillo and Silkshot. The former bounces around and is great for hitting annoying as fuck enemies I don't want to go near, or elusive enemies. One throw of these bad boys kills Stilkin.
Silkshot pierces and deals lots of damage. Fantastic for use against flying enemies that like to play keep-away, like Driznits and Spit Squits.

You can also feed Pimpillos to Groal. It factors into my strategy. I don't use it as a substitute for the Needle, but a supplement. That's how tools are meant to be used, AS A SUPPLEMENT.
Use them that way and you'll have plenty of shards remaining.

You just talked about tools and your strategy for using them. At no point did you give a reason why the shard system as it currently stands is good. You can adapt to deal with any shitty system, that doesn't make it good.
You could continue to play exactly the same way you do now if they kept the per-life restrictions but dropped the overall shard system entirely

Shard system is total trash and shard apologists are sucking cocks.
And even in this case
>it's okay to rely on silk skills but not okay to rely on tools
>>
>>735004592
Because it discourages spamming, and encourages you to not avoid enemies along the way, but to kill them for their resources. Formerly sentient husks carry cash. Beasts carry shards. You can buy shard bundles with cash. And if you get stuck on something and drain all your shards and need to fuck off, that's by design too. Silksong was specifically designed so that if you get stuck somewhere you can go somewhere else and do something else and come back later.

If you run out of shards, go work on the Hunter's Journal for a while. Explore the Citadel, look for upgrades. Kill things that cross your path. And work on other combat options cause it's clear your toolspam isn't working.
>>
How the fuck are you people running out of shards? Sometimes I had to farm rosaries but never shards.

>>

>Sometimes I had to farm rosaries
Dude we're talking about rosaries. No one farm shards. You farm rosaries to buy shards. This is how bad the system is.
>>
>>735005095
Farming rosaries for shards is farming shards. I never purchased a single shard bundle, btw. The game showers you with them.
>>
>>735004451
I think I'm not autistic enough to understand this mentality
>>
>>735004864
Having a hard cap per attempt discourages spamming. Adding an extra cap over the top of that existing limitation is meaningless. It discourages experimentation and adds literally nothing to the game.
If the game needs to shoehorn in currency systems to make me engage with its enemies, then they have done something wrong. It's made even worse with enemies in gauntlets not dropping anything at all, and the game throws so many gauntlets at you that it becomes very noticeable.
>if you get stuck on something and drain all your shards and need to fuck off, that's by design too
It's not good design. Being told to fuck off and grind for shards isn't fun, and there's fuck all meaningful upgrades to be found for leaving a boss fight after X number of attempts to be worthwhile.
>>
>>735004931
If you never run out of them, why have the cap at all?
>>

I made a bad habit of practicing bosses in Architect. You should learn the boss in another build and then when you're confident, finish them in Architect. In Act 2 it was fine, most shit died to tool spam, in Act 3 you actually had to know when to dodge and shit.
>>

Absolute fucking horseshit. Let's assume you get stuck on The Forum, bane of many players, Here's things you can do:
>Get the Faydown Cloak from Mt. Fay
>Get the two Pale Oils from the Citadel, netting you the Hivesteel Needle
>Get the Witch, Architect, Beast, Wanderer, and Reaper crests
>Get the Volt Filament from Voltnest, which powers up Silk Skills
>Get the Silk Heart from The Unraveled
>Complete Shakra's questline and ask her for help with The Forum
>Defeat Garmond above the Whispering Vaults and ask for his help with The Forum
>Obtain the Voltvessels from the Memorium
>Obtain the Silkshot from any of the three sources
>Get numerous other upgrades and tools
Then come back and eat everything The Forum has to offer.

>>
>>735005926
It was hyped up enough for people that were new to HK, and maybe challenging metroidvanias/platformers as a whole, to jump on board. There was bound to be a bunch of people who felt "cheated" out of what they were told was going to be a good game, despite it being obvious they weren't actually interested in this kind of game.
It's still silly, but I get why it happened.
>>
>>735006087
Because gauntlets aren't intended to be high density farming areas. They're supposed to be something you complete if you have the requisite skill and strategy and perseverance and tools/upgrades earned from exploration. Bosses don't refund the resources spent in failed attempts either.

Flea Bounce is the same thing. Shaman makes it simple.
Flea Dodge is absolute fucking horseshit. Once you hit the 60 second or so mark you're better off just pogoing fleas at the top of the screen until you pass time than actually dodging them, because otherwise you will just fucking lose.

I gave an explanation. I don't know if that's why TC decided to make it that way, but it's just what I suspect. You can headcanon it that Hornet is a little preoccupied with surviving the gauntlet to loot their bodies or something.

This is assuming you know the events of the original HK
>Hornet gets kidnapped
>Hornet escapes kidnapping, but instead of fucking off decides to find out why she was kidnapped
>Hornet (a Weaver) finds Weaver artifacts and succs their power
>Finds Lace and has a yuri battle (skippable)
>Finds out about Grand Mother Silk who the bugs that kidnapped her worshipped
>GMS made Weavers (from "normal" spiders) using God powers. God powers are a thing in HK lore. Just like Silk and Void, it's magic I ain't gotta explain shit
>Weavers decide they want to rule Pharloom. Reasons vary from Weaver to Weaver, but they come together and...
>seal up GMS, use her Silk to make a paradise kingdom
>Some realize that she's a fucking God and eventually she's gonna break free
>Already her influence is fucking with the kingdom making bugs with weak willpower possessed and shit
>Some fuck off away from Pharloom to Hollownest and other locales
>Rematch (or first match if you skipped the first one) against Lace
>Lace is pissed off because she sees herself as an artificial creation of GMS and can never be her true "daughter" like the Weavers
>Weavers aren't actually GMS daughter, that is Weaver propaganda before they realized the truth
>Lace thinks GMS "wants" Hornet, but in truth being in proximity to a Weaver is enough to make her start to reawaken and she wants to genocide all the Weavers and their kin for revenge
>beat the shit out of Lace
>beat the shit out of GMS
>canon Act 3 ending (I'm not explaining the other ones) you are tricked into making a snare for GMS that drags her to the void.
>Lace (who is bipolar or some shit) decides to save you. Probably actually because she hates mom more than she hates you
(cont.)
>>
>>735007908
Silk, a spider-goddess, create Weavers, a spider-people able to use magic in the form of silk (regular). Together they rule over the kingdom of Pharloom. Eventually the Weavers put Silk to sleep and rule alone. After that, some Weavers leave Pharloom, not wanting to stick around when Silk wakes up. These Weavers find Hallownest, and their leader, Herrah, make a child with the Pale King, which is Hornet. Weavers have an hard time making children (think of them as the elves of the HK world). Hornet grows up, and the first HK game happens. Silk, meanwhile, has woken up, at least partly, and sends for Weavers and Weavers-descendant across the land to recreate her family by force, using threads mingled in the bodies of generation of bugs, which ensnare their minds. Lonely, she creates Lace, a being of pure silk who will never leave her. Hornet is captured, but freed by Lace, who thinks Hornet will become Silk's surrogate daughter due to her powerful strength and heritage, thus making her irrelevant. Hornet climbs Pharloom and confronts Silk, either killing her and taking her power in the base ending or attempting to trap her into the Abyss in the secret ending. It fails when Lace shows up and get dragged down into the Abyss with Silk. The goddess, moved by maternal love rather than out of self-preservation, sends threads all over Pharloom to attempt to buy her daughter a little time. The threads are used by the Abyss to wreak havoc on the land, and Hornet chooses to save Lace rather than wait out Silk's inevitable destruction, which will not come before Pharloom is itself destroyed. In the end, Hornet defeats Lace, who has been corrupted by the Abyss, and Silk sacrifices herself to bring her daughter and granddaughter out of the Abyss, with the additional help of the Knight from HK, who had become one with the Abyss in the golden ending of the first game.
>>
>>735007908
>>735008749
>Hornet wakes up and Pharloom is full of Void
>basically GMS fell into the void that is at the bottom of the kingdom (just like Hollownest) but she is using her powers to resist it causing it to erupt into Pharloom
>Hornet confronts the Snail Shamans that helped her build the trap and finds they used the powers of the abyss to do it
>to undo their fuckup and have Hornet clear the void they need a mcguffin called the Everbloom which you have to again travel the kingdom, fight some old monarchs in their prime, grab their hearts, and have the snail shamans sacrifice themselves to make
>once you get this, you're immune to void and you can dive to the bottom of the kingdom
>Problem is, Lace is down their and she's corrupted by void
>You kick her ass a third (or second) time, she gets purified, turns out mommy did love her and is protecting her down there and uses the last of her strength to boost you through the sea of void
>You almost don't make it to the surface, but are ultimately rescued by the Knight, the protagonist of the first game who apparently became one and mastered the void in Ending 4 of the original game.

And sorry I can't summarize it quicker, it's a 50+ hour game with an assload of lore and more story density than the first game.

Meh, I think you're quite fast enough as is. I understand using it when you're running around the map doing stuff but against bosses I don't see much point usually.

Silksong is an excellent game,I'd give it a 9/10, but I find it a bit annoying how strong the evasion abilities of so many enemies and bosses are. Some battles feel a bit like "Smash Melee", where you're constantly looking for the best position while your opponent immediately responds by repositioning themselves too, and that gets a bit annoying when opponents can just fly or teleport.
I've just started playing Rabi Ribi, and I'm enjoying how the boss battles focus more on "micro-adjustments" of your position than on just dancing around with your enemies in an large area.

Flea Dodge is the easiest of the three, you just need to not focus your eyes on Hornet or any flea, just watch the entire screen all at once and you'll see that most fleas are not flying anywhere close near you. It's also the game where you have access to the most of your moveset in an useful way, and it's pretty common to get saved by other fleas even if you fuck up. Finally, it's easily the shortest of the three games to reach the top of the scoreboard.

Sawtooth Circlet is a major upgrade in dusguise, like if Clawline was an equippable charm. Aerial combat is the secret to getting gud, and Sawtooth turns your movement abilities into AOE attacks. It synergizes perfectly with the kind of fun, acrobatic gameplay you'd want to do when you gain confidence and get a bit better at the combat.

There's also spam tech that vomits damage and rips bosses to shreds. Check Lore Accurate Hornet on yt, he has a lot of high-level gameplay videos that cover it.

They're not "the same enemies." The gauntlet is a curated challenge with its own set of rules and conditions, not just some enemies in a room. You're tasked with beating the whole thing in one go with no breaks between. You walk in with what you're using.

>>
>>735015187
Not a lot, since the game resets to pre-Lost Lace if you beat it.

I would like it though, even if I had to beat Lost Lace again, which might be a bit tough since I've lost a bit of muscle memory. I dislike how the "default" state of the kingdom as you leave it in act 3 is a wreck
