Mankind was almost wiped out by a nuclear holocaust and forced to live underground for a couple hundred years where they basically went full Metro 2033, and humanity probably would have gone extinct if some dude hadn't come along and built some machines that ended the nuclear winter so humanity could start returning to the surface (and then a while later another fucking war broke out that basically just ended in a draw). Feels like Ginger dying kind of served as a reminder that underneath the cartoonish art style the world in the My Time series is kind of brutal setting.
