>surf is in the deepest house of the safari zone
Do they expect you to be clairvoyant or what the fuck?
>>
Have you tried talking to the numerous NPCs that point you to it?

If you talk to anyone in town or inside or even looked at a sign you might have been told that.
>>
zoomers and gen alpha are going to nuke this world.
They are so worthless.
>>
>>734998981
Literally everyone played gen 1. If you didn't find it, you could just ask anyone in your class or any young relative at the time.
>>
>>735000480
or buy any of the guides/magazines at the time the told you how to get to it
>>
>don't get running shoes until after you beat brock
This game sucks.
>>
>>735000305
If they're so worthless then there's nothing to worry about.
>>
>>734998981
>Do they expect you to be clairvoyant or what the fuck?

man you zoomers really need to learn to shut the fuck up and stop making yourselves look bad
>>
>>735000706
>If they're so worthless then there's nothing to worry about.

zoomer intellectual right here
>>
The only kanto thing I think is bullshit was the guard needing lemonade to get into saffron.
>>
>>735000923
its not bullshit it just shows that you have zero problem solving skills and dont actually play/explore the game
>>
>>735000975
Why would I buy healing items that appear to be completely indistinguishable from normal potions?
>>
>>734998981
I had a FRLG strategy guide so I probably just looked at that
>>
>>735001026
because someone told you he is thirsty and now youve found a vending machine.

you add 1+1 together and get two. i know in zoomer common core math its probably 5 but holy shit use your head
>>
>>735001085
Why would a pokemon healing item work on a normal human?

because it wasnt sold at the pokemon healing item counter it was on the rooftop of the shopping center. probably had some npc talking about how refreshing that drink was as well but once again you would have to play the game and not be brain dead to make a connection
>>
>>735001207
>it was on the rooftop of the shopping center
Oh you mean the shopping center where you buy potions?
>>
I get that nu mon games have literally 0 consequences for any action you take, but it's unbelievable seeing the narrative that FRLG are hard/punishing at fucking all. Or any Pokemon game really.
>>
>>735001109
>>735001237
b8 lol
>>
>>735001237
>Oh you mean the shopping center where you buy potions?

you can everything there it had several floors for specific items. this another thing with zoomers just take the L and admit you were wrong instead of doubling down on your retardation
>>
>>735001307
Nah, it's cryptic when you're playing it as a kid.
>>
>>734998981
They expect you to explore. Shocking concept for zoomoids I know
>>
>>735001353
brain dead millennials did just fine the problem is you
>>
>>734998981
I'm just following the walkthrough on Bulbapedia and I'm having fun

Do not be discouraged. >>735000480 is correct. Everybody was told how to solve the puzzle by someone else who was told how to solve the puzzle. Miscellaneous uncs will furiously tell you unfalsifiable stories about discovering solutions through meticulous calculation and theorycrafting- disregard them. They grew up in the prime of the video game guide industrial complex, and made sites like GameFAQs titans of their era.
>>
>>735001717
Thanks, but I'm not discouraged and I'm aware of that. I grew up with yellow and played LG on release, I'm already well aware of the few things it tries to get one over on you. That's why I think the saffron guard is the one thing that's actually tricky. Something like the safari zone you should be able to figure out because you should want to see the end anyways.
>>
>>735001256
I will point that FRLG does have a surprising level jump to the E4 relative to other gens. But the solution is to simply keep fighting them until you get some levels so it isn't really an issue.
>I get that nu mon games have literally 0 consequences for any action you take
I feel like it doesn't get mentioned enough how by the time you get to SV it's like they've systematically removed any kind of decision making of resistance from the mechanics for the sake of "QoL". It feels like a genuinely pointless game
>>
>start playing game

I founf that shit when I was 7 and didn't understand english. Apply yourself anon
>>
>>735001459
>following a walkthrough
I can’t believe we’re in an era where people actually havent played Gen 3. And they need a guide because the new games are too hand holdy and linear with initial party exp share.
>>
>>735002162
I did play Gen 3 though, I'm 35 next month. Ruby was my first game, play Ruby > FireRed > Diamond > SoulSilver > Black > Black 2 > Y > OmegaRuby > Sun

After that I didn't really get into the Switch games much, I tried playing Sw/Sh and Scarlet/Violet but they didn't suck me in. Tried Brilliant Diamond but the art style was weird and unappealing.

I'm mainly using the walkthrough because it's handy, shows what Pokemon are on what routes, how to path through caverns/tunnels efficiently without missing stuff.
>>
>>735000923
The lemonade wasn't bs because that was easily discoverable. For some reason the remake changed it to a completely different key item, and I was confused for a few days wondering why I couldn't get past the guard when I was familiar with the original games and the vending machine drinks no longer worked. Seriously, what were they thinking?
>>
>>735002572
35 and you need a walkthrough lmfao
>>
>>735001805
SwSh was the official point where it became "slap your 100BP 100acc STAB move that scales off your Pokemon's highest stat on all 6 of your mons and just click it over and over until you win".
I'm sure real pokeheads are tired of hearing about it but pre-phys/special split really did encourage more creative use of pokemon like Gengar and Gyarados who are now just shadow ball and waterfall: the pokemons
>>
>>735000791
If they don't have the brain capacity to launch a nuke then they won't nuke us all.
>>
>>734998981
If I and millions of other children could beat the game when we were 5 then you have no excuse

if this isn't you, you're playing wrong
>>
>Nidoran (taken out of Route 22 in FRLG weirdly enough)
>Mankey getting rock resist + extremely early fighting moves
>Butterfree hits neutral with confusion, brocks pokemon have low spdef anyway
>game so baby mode FRLG is also the only game where Charmander can learn Metal Claw through level up
And for Misty you are literally trapped in Cerulean, and one of the TWO fucking patches of grasses you can access fucking spoonfeeds you two seperate grass types
People who say the early game is hard are fucking brainlet normie retards
>>
>>735000923
I just so happened to accidentally complete that quest. Literally talk to everyone. It's not hard.
>>
>>735002659
Probably because you'd be able to get into Saffron early if someone traded over a Pokémon holding a drink item, which was technically already doable in RBY using Stadium's item storage - albeit however many years after they released.

The intention to have it be a key item would better illustrate progression but it's given to you by a literal who while exploring.
>>
>>734998981
you could talk to npcs, or you could just explore
>>
>>735005091
Exactly
6 year old retarded me could do it, kinda embarrassing someone old enough to write on a keyboard can't.
>>
>>735004909
As opposed to unintuitive nonsense like Shadow Ball being godlike on fucking SNORLAX instead of the actual ghosts?
>>
>>735006492
It's good on Banette though. If you want your "I want to click the STAB move" ghost Pokemon then use Banette.
>>
>>735006492
gengar should be hitting harder than snorlax with shadowball in every pre-split gen where shadow ball is available. this is a user error.
>>
>>735006792
ghost moves are physical pre split you retard, the fuck are you talkinga bout
>>
>>735007174
stop bitching about your prepositions, take out a fucking calc and do the math. gengar shadow ball hits harder than snorlax shadow ball.
>>
>>734998981
Everyone had a strategy guide for the originals and GameFAQs for FRLG.
>using them is cheating
90% of the solutions needed for advancement in the games were arbitrary (this guard needs a drink from the vending machine on the shopping center's roof).
>>
>>735002659
>For some reason the remake changed it to a completely different key item,
To prevent softlocks and sequence breaking
>>
>>735008062
holy fucking larp. shut up zoomtard.
>>
>>735004909
Eh phys/spec split was generally a good thing. There's just been a thousand other changes that stack into what it is now.
For move related examples,
>TMs became infinite
>HMs as a mechanic were removed
>Learnsets becoming increasingly full of strong moves with plenty of coverage, which becomes a problem in conjunction with the implementation of the nu-exp share and freely available exp candies that artificially inflate levels and gives you access to them quicker
>You can now change your current moves anywhere anytime for free from the party menu
>Bonus: massive power creep in raw stats, move strength, and ability usefulness
>>
>>735000305
one prehistoric orange turd is about to start ww3 thowever
>>
>>735009470
Yeah, I guess my point was less that the PSS was good or bad, moreso that a lot of mons feel homogenous now.
>>
Too many uncs in this thread
>>
>>735009556
I feel that
You could argue about pokemon being good or bad in the campaign in older gens, but these days it doesn't really matter. They all have access to the same shit. It's practically a cosmetic difference with few outliers.
Pointless fucking games
>>
why do we pretend that strategy guides never existed
>>
>>735009758
You are severely overestimating parents willingness to buy their kids videogame shit in the early 2000s. Also videogames in general were harder to buy in certain places let alone extras like strategy guides.
>>
>VS seeker
>But no Gym Leader rematches
What a waste
>>
>>734998981
It's a JRPG, you're expected to explore any accessible area in order to progress and also talk to every NPC.

That's the way it works
