Why do people hate action in these games?

i like action in games, and RE4 is a great action game. However it's not a Resident Evil game. RE should be about action, survival with limited supplies, big metroidvania style levels to explore. Not about shooting galleries and treasure hunting.

>>735003489It's not that I hate action in Resident Evil. It's that I hate when it's the ONLY Resident Evil on offer for years on end. This series has shown it can do both Survival Horror and Action Horror excellently, and yet when you get shit like RE6 that failed to do both well or lost a great deal of identity in the process, it shows how far shit has to be stretched to appeal to both audiences. Shit, RE9 does it too, that's gonna be one of that game's damning statements in not pleasing everybody. And frankly, as good as RE action can be, I prefer the survival titles more.Can't even really criticize action much either; RE2 started the trend, and it's a staple even in the survival horror games that you'll eventually have magnums, explosives and herbs up your ass to kick the shit out of a big monstrosity by the end even with the more spooked characters. So it's really just a principle of game design overall. Shit, give me spinoffs, give me Revelations, give me something instead of trying to mangle Action/Survival into some unholy amalgam.

If you like a particular game series and then that game series begins to drop everything you liked about it in favor of chasing a new audience, I think it's fair to be a bit disappointed.
