Silver Swords are still swords. It's just peak stupid to clang a silver sword against steel swords and steel armor because silver is weaker than steel, only monsters are weak to the supernatural qualities of silver.

It works like a regular blade (its not like its dull) on Humans; it was geralt basically saying "fuck you, subhuman monster." non-verbally by using the sword he uses to slay monsters. Its like Witcher equivalent of the "end him rightly" meme in medieval combat; uncorking the pommel from the sword and tossing it at the enemy; a big middle finger with no real effect.
