Whatever happened to them?Did people's imaginations disappear?
we invented graphics
get ye flask
>>735006561It's a mystery
>>735006561>Did people's imaginations disappear?Yeah, basically. Well that, and I found some okay ones on Choice of Games that are like Choose Your Own Adventure books of old, but 99% of them are unreadable modern day wanna-be Joss Whedon crap. You know what I am talking about; every character is a non-binary demiqueer whatever the fuck and the writing is abysmal and overflowing with godawful quips and characters being 'clever'.
>>735006561Completely irrelevant due to the rise of AI based storytelling
>>735006919AI sucks cocks and can't remember plot points or characters worth shitthis is how I know you just goon to low effort smut as opposed to 'play games'
>>735006561They're still occasionally being made but your choices of genre are pretty much either erotica or absolutely obtuse arthouse crap.
>>735006561they're not games
>>735006561they're called "interactive fiction" nowadaysit's a niche community but a lot's been produced
>>735006959Skill issue. Make it happen.
>>735006561>Whatever happened to them? They're still around, just incredibly niche. One of the positive sides is that you can implement a lot of content into them fairly easily, so it's a lot easier to find one with a ton of stuff to do. There's no need to implement graphics or tilesets or complex programming, so a lot can be implemented. The text parsers are pretty much done. I don't think I've seen one that tried to use text parsers that was made in the last 20+ years. Most of them give you menu options, either keyboard shortcuts or a list with numbers. The ones I've enjoyed the most have either number-entry (for selecting a particular option) or allow clicking with a mouse, for easy of use. Needless to say, there's no just typing something in and getting a result.
>>735008059>The text parsers are pretty much doneit's a shame, they were better even in graphic adventure game
