Why did it fail? It's such a great idea but they don't do anything with it. Hell games even get removed from it so we can get shitty remasters or nothing.
>>735008920>Why did it fail?Works on my personal computer>XboxXbox failed.
Licensing, plain and simple>game in production needs music or recognized characters>devs go to rights holder, asks to use music/characters>signs license to use them for that game>fast forward 10 years>rights holder was acquired and liquidated by another company>dev studio also acquired and liquidated by microsoft/sony/nintendo>suddenly license no longer valid>new rights holder sees that new parent company of studio is swimming in money>asks high fees to renew license for re-release or reproduction>license not signed>game has to come down even from backward compatibility because no more rights to use that contentmany such cases. Most common in racing games and some licensed fightan games
Xbox as a brand died in 2010
>>735009056Did Condemned have any licensed music? It got removed.
>>735009223dunno, but warner brothers was a publisher so, could just be them oy veying their usual shit
>>735008920>Hell games even get removed from it soWait really? Or are you just talking about digital games getting desisted?
>>735008920it didn't fail, but presenting the bare minimum as a headline feature is probably indicative of why Xbox did
>>735008920almost everything I wanted (Panzer Dragoon Orta, Gun Valkyrie, Ninja Gaiden 1-3, DOA series, Lost Odyssey) got added to the catalog with boosted framerates and resolution so I'm pretty happy with it. Jet Set Radio Future is probably the only missing game I'd like to have on there. Obviously Xbox as a brand is practically invisible so a strong backwards compatibility initiative was never going to move the needle.
>>735009445Digitaly delisted. You can still play them if you owned them before.
