I did find is strange sony thought it was a great idea to put their exclusives on PC when MS already had a monopoly on the OS.Like OP image, soon as a fully functioning steam machine that is cost effective and does everything a console does drops, and has all the exclusives sony has as well, sony has just gave up the market share.Ironically then the only thing that a PS would have over a steam machine is a gatekeep for shitters by a yearly online sub.
What war? Why retreat from PC? Just make a bunch of games that players would actually buy, and you get a relationship that's profitable both for Valve and Sony.
>>7350094241. dont make your company a publicly traded company for da joos to turn into a portfolio stuffer2. focus on the only people giving you money: your customers, and make sure they are happy3. make your service better than it was yesterdayits really that fucking simple
>>735009424Because he's not a bitch of shareholders, company isn't public. So he can make big decisions without some fucking merchant worrying about his dividends and why game developers are talking about games. Someone dump that nintendo thing where some shareholder whinged, i forgot to save it.
PC will swallow consoles long term no matter whatValve is getting rid of everything consoles ever had and even consoles themselves are shedding their own positives
>>735009996How? With rising hardware prices there soon won't be PC gaming as we know it.
>>735009424
>>735009658Because when they've exhausted their sales on playstation the can reel in more revenue on pc later on. But now it seems like they'll just hoard it and let the ips rot on their platform thinking people will still buy consoles for the games and not for the convenience.
>>735009424doing nothing and collecting money is just an easier strategy than doing things. Sony does that too and they do it well. Most of their revenue is from developers that aren't first party and a lot of them are live service micro transactions. I'd rather Valve make games again but they literally have no reason to do anything anymore.
>>735009658This is good, it means Sony will make attractive exclusive software again! Like in the PS2 era!
>>735009464This. It would be different during the ps1 and 2 era when sony had to actually try
>>735009424steamfags are just as brainwashed as nintendofags kek
>>735009424Make reasonably good storefront with decent tag and recommendations system, other companies think they can make a better store by just throwing money at it, spend 0 thought on how to make it actually a decent shopping experience, lose because people aren't switching to a worse alternative >>735009653
>>735009424Thats probably why they get 10 new lawsuits every week. Its wild how all of a sudden everyone goes after Steam.
>>735009464>everyone else does less than nothing and often make their service actively worseThat's where you're wrong. They spend a great deal of effort on making their services worse. Saying they do nothing is disrespectful and undermines the huge amounts of work they put in to ensuring their customers suffer.
>>735009424it;s funny people keep posting gabe, he retired 10 years ago
>>735009424win the console war? with what, the DOA steam machine?
>>735009658PC is the only realistic way to sell a lot of games to China, that's why everything is ported to it. Most games on Steam sell the most to the Chinese when you look at breakdowns and not buy a little amount, it's sometimes close to 40% or even 50%. It's VERY hard to get games through the CCP censors for a domestic release unless it's something super family friendly like Mario. Sony's games full of violence and sex had to release on PC if they wanted to reach the Chinese market because consoles were banned in China for around 2 decades or so.
snoy is just cutting their losses cuz they dont wnna pay 100k/week denuvo, they know that pc nigger thirdworlders will pirate everything the moment its out and that theyre generally averse to paying 70 bucks for a premium AAA game, for some reason snoy also refuses to release the actually good games on PC like bloodborne or order in 4k why im guessing they have some sort of internal console/pc war where the most autistic japs refuse to use anything other then the PS so idk
>>735010305even now pc still beats consoles on valuein the long term it's either going to normalise and pc dominion will expand or consoles will become unviable to make
>>735011739no current sony game deserves to be called premium
>>735009658>That is cost effective So Sony has nothing to worry about then. Steam Machine is gonna cost $900 to $1,000. For $1,000 I can get a pre-built with a 5060 in it. Do you honestly think they're pushing back dropping the price tag by months because it's going to be low?
>>735011823doesnt matter what it deserves only matters how the corpos see it and they like their 70$ games. shitbox on the other hand seems DOA with its 1080p 30fps specs not even russians or south americans will buy this faggotry and seeing how RAM prices are going idk if the fat faggot newell is gonna have the resources to make it anyway
I'd imagine Sony is threatened by literally everything for the next 10 years because they only have ground to lose and number going down is a poison pill for any publicly traded company. They make all their money selling the live service titles of others. Every time someone plays Fortnite or Minecraft or CoD or whatever on a PC, Switch, Xbox, phone, tablet, etc they lose a customer. Kids are getting into games less and going more for phones and tablets when they do + ARM is getting strong enough to play real games. Couple that with most people just playing old live service games that aren't graphically demanding and Sony is in a position where there's less demand for powerful consoles and ever-increasing ways to play things outside of the Sony ecosystem. This is why they've been so desperate to get a big live service of their own going, so they have a money printer that isn't dependent upon the very companies that are a threat to them. I don't think they view any specific entity as more of a threat, but rather every other company stands to gain more from current industry trends while it's slowly weakening Sony's core business foundation.

>>735009698>dont make your company a publicly traded companyThe Rothschild's are trying putting a stop to that.
>>735016450valves profits were promised to them 3000 years ago
All I want is Valve to come up with a true Windows competitor, an actual user friendly linux OS. They are the only company capable of ending MS OS monopoly.
>>735010391sun tzu my master...I kneel
>>735017779I would argue that they try to avoid labels that have no purpose other than the novelty of said title which undermined most components. Look at the Pokemon and the "Pokemon killler" scene. The only one standing nowadays is Palworld and that's because they focus solely on their game (Whether it's good or not is subjective) rather than cashing in on the press of being a competitor to Pokemon. Valve placing the customer first and focusing solely on making their service good is what will gravitates buyers to them overtime.
The Rothschild family will ensure his company is dead before the end of the year.
>>735018002Yeah but they are focusing on turning Steam OS into the best "video-game OS" instead of a fully fledged all-purpose OS. People aren't going to shift OS if they can't use shit like Adobe products and Word.Valve has a real shot into making a true windows killer if they invest that way, they already """stole""" from MS the entire PC gaming market for themselves.
>>735009424No one is afraid of MS.The reason Sony pulled back was fucking super obvious, their sales on STEAM were shit. So, it seems like PS players didn't want to buy Sony games on a non Sony platform and Steam players didn't CARE to buy Sony games at all.
>>735017779>linux starting to pick up steam>suddenly states in the US pass laws demanding id verification at the OS level>how are they gonna accomplish this?>idk>how will anyone other than MS/Apple afford this id integration>idk>linux dies as lawmakers realize its impossible to get distros to comply so they pass laws to have everything block your PC unless it passes id verificationthis is of course assuming these laws actually happen because atm no one is trying to even follow through with this bullshit, not even lawmakers lol.
>>735018421>id verification at the OS levelNot true.
>>735018374>Steam players didn't CARE to buy Sony games at all.Maybe they should have tried to port the interesting titles instead of trash like God of War or Spiderman, huh.
>>735018421It will be the same as piracy, unless demonic forces turn every PC/OS into a closed system like smartphones, it will be impossible to enforce it.
>>735018614Like what? Outdated 10+ year old games?
>>735018614Sony don't want people buying their older games, they are in direct competitionwith their shitty bloated 100m budget current games.

>>735018953But 7 is always-online slop.
>>735018213With gaming becoming more so a commodity at the moment due to component parts spiking in prices, making an affordable option is the right move. With enough tweaks they can add the use cases for Adobe and Word later into the OS.
>>735018374Helldivers worked out fine. People bitched and moaned about having to make a PS account but still got the game in the end.
>>735019036but if it was on steam, it'd be easier to acquire than a GT4 iso. didn't say it'd be a better game.

>>735019343I think the primary idea behind the GabeCube is as a console-like connected to your TV, a secondary machine that you can just set and forget to big picture mode. You could get an actual console for that, but then you wouldn't have access to your Steam library. Or you could build a proper PC yourself and put it next to the TV, but then your girlfriend or wife might complain. Or you could pull a long HDMI cable from your PC, which might not be an option or work that well depending on the distance. Or you could get a streaming device which would still be less convenient and more fiddly than a dedicated machine. It's definitely not particularly good value, but I can see the use case if you've got more money than time and energy to spend.
