Started playing freelancer first time ever and its fun but also infuriating at the same time.
Multiple restarts and lost items because I refuse to stop either blowing targets up or going for the instant headshot kill.

Best maps: Whittleton Creek, Sapienza
Fuck Dubai and Isle of Sgàil

Hope it's good

Second or third showdown always fucks me over

dubai is great if you fuck up and you dont have anymore silenced weapons

security room atop the backstage area has a sleeping guard with a silenced smg you can bring back to the safehouse. you also have access to the entire map now with the elite guard disguise as well as a penthouse keycard

I tried getting into WOA a few times but couldn't, can I just play Freelancer without playing the main game or will lack of map knowledge fuck me over?

Freelancer is literally the exact same as the main game just with random NPCs as targets and a random loot system
If you don't like the main game you won't like Freelancer

>Freelancer is literally the exact same as the main game
I doubt it because what made me unable to get into the main game was my need to do every challenge on every map and then I burned out after doing 6 scripted stories that handhold you step by step on how to kill your target in a row

Freelancer has way more of a grind than the main game too, it has 100 levels of mastery with some challenges that involve taking out 2500 targets and experience accrues super slow after like level 50. If you have autistic perfectionism, Freelancer will ruin you, it's basically the same as the shitty Contracts mode outside of showdowns meaning you will get dozens of targets in shitty locations that you can't set up a good kill for, made even worse by the extra challenges Freelancers lays on top of you which are often mutually exclusive with one another and fucking retarded. Having fun trying to kill your target in the middle of a crowded area with an unsilenced pistol. You will either spam the puke pistol every mission or alt+f4 constantly, that's what Freelancer boils down to at the end of the day

I don't mind grind or killing 1000 targets if they're different targets on rotating maps, I just hate killing the same target on the same map 5 times in a row
>You either spam the puke pistol every mission or Alt+F4
I'm not a completionist, I just noticed there's unlocks tied to the challenges in Hitman which is why I felt the need to do them and got burned out. I beat Blood Money by killing every target with either a sniper rifle or explosives and then the guards with assault rifles when I inevitably failed stealth and still had fun

Most of the unlocks are tied to mastery rather than the actual challenges themselves, and also most unlocks just aren't that good or are just cosmetic. There's certainly no need to do every challenge. Once you have a silenced pistol, a lockpick, and some poison vials, that's pretty much all you need for the main game and Freelancer alike

Anyway, as to your original question, map knowledge can actually be kind of a trap in Freelancer, because some of the maps you'd assume would be easier aren't, and also it kinda depends on whether you're doing a showdown or not. Whittleton Creek is literally babby mode in a normal mission but is much more difficult during a showdown. Sgail isn't too bad on the other hand despite it being difficult in the main game. Free silenced weapon if you know where to look, best disguise isn't too hard to get, lots of rooms to isolate targets in, the verticality makes for easy escapes if you get caught, etc.

Also some maps are slightly different in Freelancer. Dartmoor has security camera in Freelancer, it doesn't in the main game. Not sure about any other changes apart from that

I saw it dozens of times and I never figured it out, I think I had to look up a guide for it. Thing is I actually tried to do what you're supposed to do to get to it once but the prompt didn't appear. It's a really dumbass secret that's not even particularly helpful
