They ruined the atmosphere, and Isaac works much better as a silent protag IMO.
2 also feels WAY too easy. Even on some of the higher difficulty settings, guns are INSANELY overpowered, and you almost never run out of ammo.

Yes, in that both are trying to be fun action games and this is a more fun action game. Any horror is alleviated quick though when the protagonist can stomp his feet and yell "Motherfucker!"

They did NOT ruin the atmosphere. The station is just as good as the Ishimura but in a different way in that you're on a civilian structure and you're walking through the ruins of everyday life that are now destroyed. There's still creepy areas like the apartment complexes where you hear a distant woman crying and see homes torn apart. Great game and plays good too.
