I have 2500 hours in AoE2 DE and I just play single player or COOP campaigns with randoms. There's no prize at the end of your life for playing games you don't wanna play. Sometimes I start up a campaign on standard and just turtle building the hugest base ever while I listen to a podcast or something. The AoE2 music and art still makes me feel extremely comfy it's one of the best games ever.
Now that i can play as a mapuche i feel represented and show everyone how our neolitic ancestors beated the shit out of a pathetic iberian empire using cannons and guns
