I literally grew up with it and a lot of early 3D games have aged like shit, and unfortunately the PS1 was kind of hit the hardest because it was the most popular and easy to develop for so it got the most shovelware. It was a transition gen, PS2 is when Sony really hit its stride

What Sony did was opening the door for American developers and basically allowed them to make whatever they wanted. That's why it was able to compete with Nintendo.

PS1 has a ton of god tier games but it also has a bunch of weak titles that are forgotten for a reason. Plus the low poly can feel off to people who didn't grow up with it or aren't used to it. I say this as someone who regularly replays Playstation vidya.

There's a popular rally game doing the rounds now that tries ita best to emulate the experience of a ps1 game; makes me laugh when they say the games have aged poorly.
