Considering Holdfast is the biggest game in this genre and it just hit its own peak which was 5k, 2k less then this game, I'd say this game is going to do just fine.
It helps it's from the devs of the people who made the genre, Napoleonic Wars. I didn't like it when I first tried it but they already made the shooting a lot better, I'd say it's probably the best WW1 game, though Isonzo and Verdun are slightly more authentic

These sorts of games typically survive on tiny player bases who are dedicated to the social element they offer, I wouldn't worry about the player count going low, this is pretty high for one of these games.
