>upgrade system makes you too strong, so you have to actively refrain from using it to maintain a sense of challengeWhat game, or should I say…games?

Skyrim which is why it's dogshit.
The obvious one is using summons in elden ring
>>735056051>heh, you noticed my frame rate limiter…
Witcher 3. Please, if anyone of you is playing it for the first time, DO NOT upgrade igni and DO NOT get the health item upgrade that lets you heal over time for 20 real world minutes from the use of 1 health item.
>>735056203Smithing would probably be better off if there was some sort of durability mechanic than flat attack/defense upgrades.
Morrowind w/ alchemy and enchanting
>>735058690I was more talking about how when you find an enchantment you can get better scaling than the entire level curve from putting it on gear. I also lied, there are plenty of other reasons it's dogshit, but that's specifically the reason I stopped playing.
>>735056051The GOAT of gamebreaking crafting systemTime to nuke the last boss on the hardest difficulty in just a swing or two You've created great power but for what purpose?
>>735058856Oh, and also you can make redundant 1 of the whopping THREE level up option you get.
Morrowind. You can very easily max out every stat in about an hour.
>>735058856>>735058903The attribute scaling is a bit funky yeah. It's only in the tens for the player outside of enchantment, but then the NPCs get huge amounts of health and then either stamina or magicka on a per level basis, the latter of which makes any tactical use of spells that damage those kind of moot.Smithing on the other hand is basically just a very dry and grindy skill that gets you physical damage you can't source from anywhere else in the game, and you can either just hammer up the same Steel armor to the armor cap or work your way to make the best generic gear in the game. Makes loot more underwhelming, outside of learning new enchantments.
