A solid 40% of people who played Expedition 33 completed the game. The average completion rate for games on Steam is around 25-30%. That is not the expectation of a game which owes its success to astroturfing. Evidently people who played the game significantly enjoyed it, around half again as many or even double as many who enjoyed another given game they played on Steam. If you don't like it, guess what that means? Odds are you didn't play it.
