>6 months later i am forgottenwas the female protag a mistake?
Yeah, making it even fucking gayer than hades was a HUGE mistake.Play Pyre, it's their best game and 1000 times better than Hades.
>>735067079No, but her personality was. And art design for some reason got much worse. I'll clear it later, right now there is a lot of better games to play. And these games doesn't include murica-greek gods either
>>735067079>single player gamePeople have beaten it, retard.
This series would've been unknown if not for the heavy Reddit campaigning. Points for making money, but the game itself is unremarkable.
>>735067201It never strikes you as strange that so many products get agressively jerked off as life-changing perfect game of the decade mastepieces while also being something you just beat once and never think about again?
>>735067079yes, I played the first game a ton and this one just doesn't interest me. though I didn't particularly love the first game anyway. it had very little variety and upgrades felt pretty shallow.
I liked it, I still listen to the soundtrack and am waiting for any Vow of Rivals: Ballbusting++++ Edition updates or mods.
>>735067201>>735067269not defending this game in particular, but it's a rouge-like. those are single player games with near endless amounts of replability. I have over a thousand hours in binding of isaac, but that's because that game actually has a fuck ton of content unlike Hades.
>>735067269Not when the industry moves so fast and there are so many games coming out every year, no. Games are treated more like movies/TV watercooler discussions than ever.
>>735067361Well yeah. Hades is genuinely at the bottom of my tierlists for roguelikes because it has practically ZERO content or variety. A few zones, a couple samey bosses, limited selection of enemies and very repetetive gameplay, not to mention it's built around grinding. But apparently it's le best roguelite ever because they shat voiced dialogue all over the place and a shitty tumblr fanfic "story". Fuck that, the reason why I liked playing roguelikes was because they were all GAMEPLAY focused and arcade like in nature, no story bullshit wasting your time. And yeah, isaac is god-tier in terms of content and run variety.Again, Pyre is genuinely way better than Hades. Actually creative gameplay, interesting world and characters, writing is way better. And it's not rogueslop.
>>735067079>>735067201>no big content updatelame
>>735067361>I have over a thousand hours in binding of isaac, but that's because that game actually has a fuck ton of content unlike Hades. This is not a defense of Hades because this is the part I really dislike about it, but a lot of roguelites have the same issue. They don't have a fuck ton of content, they have as little as possible and it's very clearly stretched out.I still believe Hades 2 would have been far better as a linear game with missions ala Bastion and not a roguelite. the plot and character development would have flown better since each character isn't restricted to two/three voice lines per run, the challenges would have been better since the levels and combat encounters would be handcrafted and the whole game hinges around progression anyways so why even bother with the roguelite part.
>>735067079>2D indie game requires 16gb of RAM + 8gb of RAM for windows to do nothing in the background + 4gb of RAM if you have a browser openUnholy alliance of pajeets and indie devs. Trinity of shit.
>>735067525>muh COOOOONTEEENNTTT>muh UPPPDDDOOOOOTEESWhy can games can no longer just be finished ideas? They need constant updates otherwise it's "dead and abandoned"
>>735067419Thats bullshit and you know it. These days actually good games are coming out with several months long spacing between them so theres little difference between le old days of gaming. Also if a game actually leaves a strong impression on me I genuinely want to go back to it and tell others about it even years after playing it. Meanwhile over and over and over again faggots act like random games are mindblowing and amazing and lifechanging but they get dropped the SECOND they stop being viral memes and then it's just "errrrm everyone just consoomed it once and moved on... not everyone is an AUTIST like you heh *snort*"
>>735067708People like new. Streamer culture also pushes new.
>>735067079i want to fuck her so badthat short skirt omg
>>735067693Yes.Games in the past came complete and it would be good if they got more updates, but the logistics made it hard. Very few games got expansion packs and they were on separate CDs.Expansions are good. More of a good game is good. An expansion/update to a game you already like is infinitely better than a new game you probably won't like. Now games like Hades come out unfinished and they only get updates until it's good enough to abandon the game. The free expansion update model is the best model for the gaymers and also good for the dev. The dev can put out a game with a smaller budget and less dev time, if the game is bad they know they have to abandon it, but if the game is good they know they hit gold and they can keep working and make a bigger game. Devs like the Hades freaks abuse this system and betray your trust by putting out unfinished games and having you playtest them, getting a lot of sales with a promise of updates and the game going to be big, and then they abandon the game running away with your money.
>>735067693By your logic it would be perfectly acceptable for Hades to only have one zone, one boss and like 5 enemy types because it would be "finished".Hades is objectively pretty barren in terms of content and pretty repetitive compared to older games. Having tumblr story and shitty voiced dialogue doesn't make it "better". It's not even the best Supergiant game.
>>735067621Its a 3D game with a 2D skin ironically trying to make it look convincingly 2D is what's eating up a bulk of the resources when running it
>>735067079I played early access and was pissed when I figured out it was absolute hot garbage with toxic positivity damage swarming it like a wasp nest. So you couldn't get any negative feedback to the devs at all. Anyway, midish-late game you can tell the studio just kinda have up. It's so much more getting than the first game
>>735067882>>735067963Should they have just skipped early access and put the game out like the old days then? Pyre, Bastion and Transistor didn't get post launch updates either.
>>735067079It's a singleplayer game. What did you expect?
>>735067079The female protag wasn't a mistake, the mistake was giving her no character. Zagreus had banter with everyone, melinoe is just kind of there. The art also looks worse on almost everyone.
>>735068051Pyre, Bastion and Transistor had genuine hand-crafted content instead of relying on the "LE ENDLESS REPLAYABLITY" meme surrounding rogueslop to hide the fact that their game only has like 1 and a half of content & little variety.>>735068067Already adressed by me ITT. Again, it never surprises you when games get this much dicksucking only to die like a starved dog once they stop being marketable viral memes?
Mel had a personality of a dry pain on a wall. She was boring all on her own but compared to Zag it's just absolutely baffling. No wonder he solved the story.
It's superior to Hades in terms of gameplay and replayability. No amount of samefagging talking about how woke/tumblr it is will change my mind there.>>735067621works on my switch 2 with no issue
How the fuck can this game stall the story this much despite only giving you a few minutes of dialogue every run? After your first win it goes into a constant "yeah bro win like 7 more times then the story will happen I promise" mode while absolutely nothing happens. The characters in the hub do jackshit and neither do the Olympians. And all character development is gated behind resources you need to grind.Every run feels the same just like in the first game but that game at least had a story that went somewhere.
I have never used the difficulty modifiers in either game.
>>735068341I remember when my friend got pissed because he beat the game pretty quickly and then got told "ok champ now do it again like 10 times"Meanwhile beating Mom for the first time in Isaac was exciting because it expanded the game and added new content, you also kept getting new things with more wins
>>735068395>beat Chronos>unlock 2nd pathway (Olympus)>unlock additional cauldron benefits>unlock additional keepsakes>unlock additional weapons>unlock vow of nights>vow of nights unlocks alternate boss fightsBut yeah, no new content
>>735067079i played like 10 hours of this game and got bored because each and every run was basically the same. boring as shit, guess rougelites arent for me
>>735067079The ai slop artwork, nonsense story, shitty characters, and boring shitty boons were also a mistake.
>>735070713>boring as shit, guess rougelites arent for meDo not think this at all, Hades is a terrible example of a good, varied rougelite. Games like Binding of Isaac have dozens and dozens of different bosses and enemies, and hundreds of items that work and synergize in really unique and interesting ways. And even the way you manipulate the levels and economy is very complex. It's the pinnacle of rouge-lites.
>>735071548ya i can see how isaac is a much better game, i've also played rogue legacy and slay the spire and these games were much more interesting than hades 2
>>735068395The first 10 times you beat Mom's Heart you only unlock random items and Everything's Horrible, which just reduces consumable drop rates. You may or may not unlock alt flooors, but you definitely don't unlock any new levels. It is the same shit. On the 11th kill you unlock It Lives (the same boss but with 1 more phase) and only after beating It Lives (12th playthrough) you unlock Sheol/Cathedral. In Hades you unlock new weapons/aspects.
