Resident Evil Requiem sold 6 million.

Another million in 12 days.

https://www.capcom.co.jp/ir/english/news/html/e260316.html
>>
Is that good or bad? How much and fast did RE4 remake sell at launch?
>>
>>735068524
Too high, it sold 271k copies at best.
>>
>>735068598
>Resident Evil 4 sold more than 3 million copies in its first two days.
>It sold 4 million copies in the first two weeks
>By July 2023, it had sold over 5 million copies.
Yeah, it's even faster than 4.
>>
>>735068524
>6 million
It wasn't that many.
>>
>>735068524
200,000 tops, and mostly from gamepass.
>>
>>735068524
Capcom has been swimming in money for so long and we still have no ambitious new IP, every IP they use feels like it's corporate contraction, survival mode behaviour
>>
>>735068598
>sold million copies
>Is that good or bad?
????
>>
>>735068840
Pragmata, Kunitsu-Gami
>>
>>735068717
>>735068731
>>735068693
Source?
>>
>>735068840
Resident Evil is too big to let lie, and its popularity is greater than ever. Don't be dumb.
>>
>>735068717
Kek
>>735068949
Its impossible to cremate that many corpses within the given time-frame with Germany's capacity.
Oh you meant RE? No idea.
>>
>>735068840
Pragmata's their next big release
And there hasn't been any relevant Onimusha shit in like 20 years so that'll be new to a lot of people
>>
>>735068919
Wilds sold like 10 millions and still deemed a failure.
>>
>>735068919
Some games sold millions and were still considered flops.
>>
>>735069423
Wilds had a way bigger budget.
>>
>>735068598
I think it might be the fastest selling Capcom game that isn't Monster Hunter.
>>
It's actually impressive how during the 7th gen everyone was boasting they were selling multi millions and fast forward today, they're keep selling less, while Capcom games actually sell significantly more now.
>>
>>735069657
capcom were at their worst during gen 7, but unlike other AAA studios, it seems they learned something from their mistakes
>>
>>735069657
despite what we or some others may figure on capcom since like most publishers they're still a shitty company, they are one of the last bastions of quirky smaller titles and big AAA stuff on a reasonable time frame that appeals to a broad spectrum of normies enough to continue being a household name. they may not be innovative, and they sure as hell aren't trying to turn the wheel on themselves, but they worked towards a consistency beyond some slip ups here and there, and by god have they kept at it so far after ousting inafune for his weird stupid misfires that nearly sunk the company.
>>
>>735069743
Their 7th gen titles still sold better than ever at the time.
But weren't games like Battlefield or Assassin's Creed easily boasting about over 5 million players near launch?
>>
>>735069824
Yes they kept mentioning players instead of sales.
>>
>>735069824
>>735069972
Reminds me of when Call of Duty Ghosts claimed it broke sales records on launch day to usurp GTA5's record, only for people to point out that they were talking copies sold to retailers, not actual game sales. And then it turned out it was the first CoD game to fail to break annual records and slumped hard enough to make Activision panic into the three-dev plan for the next decade. It's kinda funny how investors can make you shit yourself when your things that still make boatloads of money are still cursed to always improve over the last or else. Thanks, line go up.
>>
now lets see marathon numbers
>>
I say six million, he says six hundred, he says "what's the difference"
>>
>>735068524
>make good game
>sells well
Shocker, I wonder why other devs don't try doing the same.

Hoping for Pragmata to have good sales as well.
>>
>>735068921
>>735069114
Kunitsugami is cool but it's a small project and feels like the sort of game capcom would shit out every other year but it's all we got in like a decade. Pragmata is basically their only new attempt at a big budget IP since the ps3 era, it doesn't help that it looks kind of boring. Lost planet felt like an attempt to make a new monster hunter tier core IP, pragmata feels like a bunch of weirdos who wanted to make a small game about a little girl
>>
>>735068598
It's good if you want more Leon. It's bad if you are sick of Leon. That simple.
>>
>>735069496
No, RE9 is probably by far their highest budget in a game ever. It literally was said to have the biggest budget of the series. Probably over 200m at least. MH Wilds was some slapped together piece of shit.
>>
>>735071179
I like Leon, but I hate that he has taken over the franchise as the main protagonist. And now that he's been cured from the T-virus, he probably ages slowly like Jill and Sherry, meaning they can use him for more games.
>>
>>735068524
Which console did it sell the best on?
>>
>>735071296
Capcom is literally writing/designing the games according to public reception and sales figures. First they had planned to return to RC with Jill and Chris because, story-wise, that makes the most sense. But Leon had become the golden boy of the franchise so they couldn't afford to bench him. They think they are throwing away millions by not using Leon. And Requiem proved that Leon is the money maker. RE fans love nothing more than Leon styling on zombies with cool finishers and one liners. So much in fact that i wouldn't be surprised if they released a bunch of Leon-focused DLC or even a spinoff just to keep Leon fans busy until his next game. Maybe some Chris in between. But the rest of the roster is benched until people are sick of those two. And i don't think that is going to happen any time soon.
>>
>>735068524
Are /v/tards shouting and crying about how it's a failure because it didn't sell 600 gorillion copies yet? Reminder that Wilds stays goated in sales.
>>
>>735068693
But enough about Marathon
>>
>>735071307
Steam > PS5 > Switch > Xbox (RIP)
>>
>>735071296
>I like Leon, but I hate that he has taken over the franchise as the main protagonist.
He's been the main protagonist for longer than most people here have been alive.
>>
>>735071232
>probably
Wilds is their biggest budget release by a mile
>>
>>735068524
cool, it's a good game
not as good as either re4, but pretty good
>>
>>735068524
It's a great game and I know it's a popular franchise, but how? In this economy?
>>
>>735069423
It's deemed a failure because after 10 million sales dropped off a cliff
>>
>>735074226
it topped 11 million in january and it's just now going on sale on Steam, so yeah, the narrative is just corpogreed faggotry, the game is objectively a success
>>
>>735068598
Its good bad because it sold well but now its going to crater like wilds
>>
>>735071232
>the biggest budget OF THE SERIES
Retard.
>>
>>735074487
Lol no
Right now it’s free for PS+ members, no successful game would be given for free like that
>>
>>735074487
Yes and no. Did it make a tidy profit? Sure. Will it make as much as Capcom expected it to? Very likely not. Last MH games had long legs, but Wilds does not. Its being outsold by Rise by monthly.
>>
>>735068598
It's insanely good considered we're currently in a second gaming crash and every other AAA game is slopping and flopping
>>
>>735068524
I had no idea the standard price of games is now 69.99 ($70).
>>
>>735068524
Not surprised because it launched with Nintendo and it's a great port. Companies need to forget Xbox and Playstation, it's poor people consoles
>>
>>735074195
There are just few new, highly acclaimed games released a year.
I just buy like 2 newly released games a year these days, so yeah, I don't mind buying new Resident Evil game when it comes out.
>>
>>735068524
>>735068598
It will be the best selling game in the IP eventually.
>>
I've been watching Nano play RE9 and it looks like a lot of fun. I will get it eventually.
>>
>>735075296
it took Rise almost 2 years to hit 11 million and Wilds did that in less then one
>>
>>735069423
it was deemed a failure by retards on /v/ who attacked it because it had brown people
>>
>>735075578
And yet Rise outsold Wilds in Q3 last year

I'm just glad the fastest selling RE is an actual new game and not a remake. I don't care if the story is contrived or if there's a lot of fan-service, to me its just more exciting having actual new installments instead of remakes. I already know what happens in the old games. I enjoyed soifacing at Wish.com Wesker and the Hunk boss fight because I didn't get spoiled, meanwhile remakes by their very nature can't really have stuff like that
>>
>>735075840
You do realize that's solely because every subsequent RE game has outperformed the last one, right?
The next four games will all be remakes and they'll all do better than RE9.
>>
We got the "mini game" in May and the story expansion this fall. Game might hit 10 million by years end.
>>
>>735075903
>You do realize that's solely because every subsequent RE game has outperformed the last one, right?
RE7 under performed on launch
>>
>>735075613
Well deserved then
>>
>>735075725
because that game gets bundled with Sunbreak and goes on sale on the Switch eShop for like $10 every few weeks
>>
>>735075930
And then the remake of 2 outperformed it, and then Village outperformed that, and then the remake of 4 outperformed Village, etc.
>>
>>735075903
This isn't a surefire thing. Especially if they don't review as well.
>>
>>735075959
REmake 3?
>>
>>735075725
what does that have to do with the claim that Wilds will never have legs?
>>
>>735075994
Exception that proves the rule.
They released a half-assed title that wasn't up to the same quality as the remakes, and it bombed. But then Village came out and outperformed the remake of 2.
>>
>>735068524

More than E33 lmaoooo
>>
>>735076084
E33 had a much smaller budget though.
>>
>>735075903
i doubt code veronica remake will do as well as this.
>>
>>735075903
>The next four games will all be remakes and they'll all do better than RE9.

I'm not so sure about that. I specifically bought Village and RE9 at launch because I didn't want to be spoiled, with the remakes I wait for sales because I've already played the originals
>>
>>735075946
Wilds has been below $5 in Japan for months and no one buys it
>>735075996
The sales plummeted, it barely sold 1M copies across the year, it won’t sell another million this year
