Ive played the original, start to finish, on almost every platform it released on.
I can play it with my eyes closed at this point.
I prefer the remake because it actually offers a challenge, albeit sometimes a very bullshit and unfair one but a challenge nonetheless.
Every replay i just aim for S+ rank without using any deluxe weps.
The ONE thing i truly do prefer from the original was the cutscenes, they are just better directed and more exciting.
I skip the cutscenes every replay of the remake but the speaking during cutscenes substitutes the plot at least, and i do enjoy ashley's character growth. Her jp voice actress is also cute af.
I still like the original overall because the remake is only as good as it is because capcom had to get their head out of their ass after the 3 remake and make a good game since they were remaking a stone cold classic.
