i spilled mountain dew on my PC and some of it got on the motherboard

the PC turned off, and when i tried turning it on, there would be no display on the monitor and i'd hear a crackling sound from my PC
>>
lol
>>
You done did the dew
>>
wash the dew off with some dr.pepper
>>
Rookie mistake, always keep drinks on your left side of the desk with your computer and mouse on the right. That way the worst that happens is that you spill on your keyboard

He didn't just do the Dew, he let the Dew do *him*.

That crackling sound is your motherboard sizzling like baja blast bacon. Unplug it immediately, pull the CMOS battery, bathe the board in isopropyl alcohol 90%+, and pray to whatever silicon deity you believe in.

If you tried to power it on after the spill, though? Yeah. You probably completed the Dew circuit.

Next time keep your gamer fuel in a sippy cup, OP.

When you water your electronics, the most important thing is to let them dry first. Do NOT fucking try to turn them on right after. Wait for some time, optimally for a day or so.

To add to that, you should also disconnect them from power sources. If it's a phone or a tablet, take off the battery if you can.

Never turn on electronics with water damage. Let it dry for several days then try to turn it back on.
>>
I havent cleaned my PC in years. Because I'm not crawling down under my dusty table, unplugging like 20 wires from the back of it, lugging the Pc up onto an empty space somewhere (that I have to clean out ahead of time), opening it up, wiping everything down because I'm not fucking ordering compressed air and risk destroying something. My P just has to live with the dust like I live with my trauma.

mountain dew isn't water and will have to be cleaned

his motherboard is probably fried at this point.
if it was his keyboard you can rinse that with isopropyl alcohol and it will take off the remains cleanly.
just need to let it air dry for a bit, which will be faster than if it was water.
